The entire schtick of 4chan is lying, bullshitting and insulting others for fun, for kicks even if it didn't start out that way in the first place. Even when 4chan tries to have legitimate discussions someone will post niggerfaggot or something hyperbolic and stupid to shit the place up. Reddit on the other hand is more akin to a blogging website with a mob mentality, mobs always right, never deviate from the hive mind. No legitimate discussions happen on reddit, it's all narrative control. So when you do try to deviate from the hive mind you get whacked. 4chan represents actual diversity of thought and agglomerate opinions, even if it's communities are very spastic and separate nowdays while reddit is just a bunch of yes men soyjacks, vapid women and fetishistic troons.

I'll argue for reddit to say that it's a valuable resource for fringe solutions to problems that are already solved and don't have room for politics or debate. More than once I've googled something and the answer was a 3+ year old reddit post resolving some installation bug or software issue that was helpful, but I didn't interact with anyone, I just had the same problem as someone else and they documented it for me.
This is also where wikipedia is still useful too, looking up episode guides to TV shows, or some old movie minutae because imdb has a shit layout and documents the wrong stuff up front and doesn't display things well.
As long as you're not trying to speak directly to the users, they're okay infodumps, but the people that maintain them are the absolute dregs of society.

Always make a backup of the files you're working on until you're sure the tool behaves the way you want it to (even thought the tools do it by default). Use exiftool to check the metadata present (
exiftool image.jpg) before and afterwards to make sure the metadata was really removed before sharing the image. To clean more than one file at a time, use the * wildcard. mat2 also works on video. Command line switches if you don't want them to write a backup file:exiftool:

Because when they do the crowd turns on them for poking holes in an enjoyable story. I’ve seen absurd lies posted on reddit where comments were downvoted for pointing out that they were lies and explaining why they were absurd.

is not that nobody does , is more that if they do those replies get downvoted and automatically (or manually) deleted from the thread.
It used to be fun to browse by controversial because thats were people were willing to actually have a sensible opinion or call OP on his bullshit but not anymore, today you just get deleted.

Redittors won't call someone out for bullshitting because the bullshitter might just be some type of minority (they probably told you in the op) and minorities all have child-like brains that don't know fibbing is wrong and this will make you a Bad Person, doing bully-like white-supremacy-adjacent behavior for saying anything.
Redditors also have a behavior that originated on SA afaik, in that they view their post history as some type of resume that needs continual polishing via verbose careposting and approved evening-time funny-man type jokes, can't have any blemishes on it. They're always checking other people's out (but invariably only for wrongthink checking or rapey reasons) and assume theirs is being checked out as well. They assume that the page and a half treatise they wrote on why they as white person view their neighborhood sub-shop as racist will "get noticed" and then of course the impressive history gets noticed and BOOM dominoes fall, new urinalist job in Big City with an already furnished pod that is so high up "you can see ALMOST ALL OF BIG CITY!" You would not in your wildest dreams believe the prime delivery times or speedtest.net results friend so I'm not even going to mention them.

The Costco subreddit has decided to ban any posts complaining about the Costco experience, their reasoning being the posts have become repetitive and overdone. This coming from a subreddit where every other post is about shoving a hot dog into a chicken bake. Honestly one of the most cult-like subreddits I've ever seen. Tons of employees have been coming out of the woodwork to talk about how badly the work enviroment has tanked in the last few years, and everyone bounds over them to talk about how much they love Costco for treating their employees good. They also get REALLY mad when people mention Sam's Club.
