I think that is where most of the complaints about the bear sex scene came from. If this was 2008 mags like Game Informer just would have seen this as a joke, write a few paragraphs filled with bear pun jokes and at the end of the article say something like; "Larian, you saucy boys and gals you." Instead now we get articles from gaming sites and mags saying that having sex with animals is normal and "tender" and being into bestiality and polyamory is normal and shouldn't be shamed for. While Larian may have intended for this to be a werid and silly D&D joke, gaming journoscum didn't see it that way and instead saw it as a normalization for their perversions. I want to add that there's no such thing as an ironic jerkoff session. Like in the first new Sonic movie where they had several scenes that just lingered on his feet, you just fucking knew what they're doing, just like you know when Tarantino does it.

That's not even the main issue though, Baldurs Gate was done, story closed, needed nothing more so this is clearly just a cash in for something unrelated because of name recognition. It's also still Forgotten Realms which I'm just so tired of, it's been done to death, there's tons of good settings that get no attention at all. Which ties together nicely in my overall feelings for this game. It's beneath Larian. Their original settings is great, and while there's plenty of material on it, it's still pretty fresh and has shit you can do, and the mechanics of both Original Sins are just so much better than even strict 5e would be, much more so the watered down 5e they're using. They used to do things that you can't easily do with tabletop, leaning on the computer to do the lifting and abstracting, just using tabletop rules for a video game is like doing video card games, it's quaint, it's not necessary anymore, no longer the best that can be done with limited means.

As someone who's big on anything else Larian has ever put out it's just very disappointing and I'm not there anymore day 1, money in hand like I thought I'd be after all their other games, even Dragon Commander which wasn't all that great on strategy but very good on world building.

So I didn't play a lot of tabletop DnD, wasn't my speed really. I loved Conan and sword and sandal shit but my friend group liked sci fi.

But I have played a lot of Battletech with the MechWarrior rpg component, Robotech rpg, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, and homebrew d20 shit and while shit could get outlandish and weird, nothing ever went to weird sex fetishism shit.
