So I didn't play a lot of tabletop DnD, wasn't my speed really. I loved Conan and sword and sandal shit but my friend group liked sci fi.
But I have played a lot of Battletech with the MechWarrior rpg component, Robotech rpg, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, and homebrew d20 shit and while shit could get outlandish and weird, nothing ever went to weird sex fetishism shit. Maybe my friends and I are milquetoast but I didn't grow up on 4chan and I'm willing to bet most tables didn't unironically delve into "lol the beastiality is a joke, brah." stuff. I don't watch streamers or YouTubers or any of that shit so maybe that's what the kids are into *today* but I think it's super disingenuous to imply that these elements have always been present in mainstream DnD play, like a bunch of 14 year olds in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s are going to roleplay the kama sutra instead of having cool adventures and slaying dragons.
