Being "trans" was mostly invented and popularized by 3rd wave feminists, even though John Money etc also contributed to it. The root of the ideology comes mainly from figures like Judith Butler, who writes incoherently about how the socially constructed "gender" exists completely separatly from biological sex, and people should strive to "transgress gender norms" and such. Some were even saying sexuality is the one real & concrete determinent, which then influences your gender identity and biological sex. The most retarded gender shit you see on tumblr and tiktok barely compares to the stupidity of 90s "feminists" writers from Vassar or Williams. You can say John Money was a pervert who loved to mess with kids genitals and I agree, but just him alone the movement would never have gotten such momentum. It was the feminists who pounded the idea that sex and gender are different, and gender is socially constructed into society and that's why we are where we are.

Even though I believe feminism and its demonization of men and masculinity as well as perpetual victimization of women have MUCH to do with where what's going on today, that opinion is arguable, and I think you are speaking against that specifically. But just factually without 3rd wave feminism, transgenderism, apart from a medical diagnosis in the DMS, wouldn't even exist.

The second wave created a bunch of psychotic men-hating "political lesbians," but there were still people saying "porn bad, prostitution bad, cross-dressing men are a mockery of women, and women can work if they want to."
