And for so many years snow white was the only surefire way Disney's sorry ass could be saved. "Facing financial troubles due to ww2? Re-release snow white, going through a lull because Walt himself died re-release snow white, on the brink of bankruptcy because the 80s are your worst decade yet? Release snow white.

This show white honestly feels like the absolute lowest point the company can sink....yes lower than Encanto, lower than strange world, lower than turning red, lower Than all the teen sitcoms and pop bands of the 2000s lower than the direct to video sequels...and yes...lower than chicken little.

Not that new but I don't think it's been mentioned here yet - sorry if it has!

"Daddy" Bob Iger has been extended as CEO til the end of 2026. Apparently the Board think that the man responsible for all of Disney's current problems is the solution to those problems. His "five year post departure consultancy" has also been reset so he'll be there until at least the end of 2031 unless he decides to walk away. Bear in mind that when he finally allowed Chapek to act as CEO for about 11 months (after delaying his departure because muh covid) Iger never gave up the CEO's office and regularly conducted meetings with senior Disney staff without Chapek present. Can't think why no-one wants to take that CEO post!

Iger has already claimed reduced park attendances are due to it being hot in Florida (must be the Disney micro-climate as it doesn't seem to be affecting the competition in the same way), Marvel's problems are due to too much content on Disney plus (his decision) and Disney isn't really a company of grooming degenerates.
One guy I kinda watch that covers disney and theme park stuff started calling him "emperor iger" on the account of this being his sixth extension, the second longest serving CEO and president behind Walt and Roy, and all his successors have been shitcanned from Staggs in 2016, to Chapek last year, and rumouredly McCarthy (some people think she was likely the next head since no on else was really in training after Iger came back)
Couldn't help but think of an old saying about cloths whenever it was brought up for some reason but that's just me.

You just know the Snow White movie's gonna be titled simply that - "Snow White" - despite the story's full name of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" being so well-known in pop culture the whole thing really IS said out loud a lot. That sounds obvious, I know, but it just underlines how... ludicrous it is to change one of the goddamn fundamental parts of the story in those guys.

To an extent I know this stuff has been in the production pipeline for a while, but what does Disney gain by going all-in on changing up these characters' races and now even physical types on purpose? The Nigga Mermaid has at best broke even - I genuinely don't know, please tell me if it has or hasn't - but bombed everywhere but America where it got carried entirely by blacks. Now the company is thumbing its nose both at the majority race of its home country AND the continent many of its classic stories' fairy tale and mythologic bases come from.

Just... just why?

I refuse to believe these images from the new Snow White are real. This has to be some kind of Fox News parody.

They may as well just change it to a similar but different story, like the Six Swans or Udea and her Seven Brothers.

udea and her brothers.jpg

But that would be trying something different. Their best option probably is just rereleasing Snow White again instead of remaking it.

I guess she was called Snow White because she loved sniffing cocaine, cause I see no white anywhere else, not even her teeth.

On the "dwarf" front, nigger with ponytails reeks of Tranny, the rest look like they would gangrape anybody in their shack except for jewlocks who probably just watches while jacking off. Also, nice to see that one actual dwarf managed to get hired after Dinklage got his little tardrage, good on him.
Doesn't change that there are now six dwarf actors that can't get jobs now if these pics ring true, thanks to Disney and Dinklage. So much for muh diversity.

Dinklage couldn't even get the story of Snow White right. The dwarves didn't live in caves; they were miners working in the caves when they discovered Snow White.

It just keeps getting worse and worse for this company. These remakes were not going to last them forever.

I don't think The Little Mermaid broke even. That film, if you take into account the budget, marketing and incurring fees for it, probably has a what, a $700 to $780 million break-even point?

Completely off topic, but I swear, in my corner of the world it has been a pretty light summer yet I'm constantly hearing "OH SO HOOOOOT!", does anybody else feel that the climate gaslighting is going extra hard this year or am I just going nuts?

I don't know. It's been one of the lightest summers if not THE lightest summer I've ever been through. We had April temperatures well into June and it's cooling down again meaning the year in general is going to be fairly cold.

Little Mermaid hasn’t even broken even.

And that claimed $560m break even point is a crock of shit. Assuming that the $250m and $140m marketing costs are correct (and there's a history of those numbers being understated) that's a base cost of $390m. If Disney gets 55% of the domestic box office receipts and 43% of the overseas (which seem to be the most reliable figures out there) then using those numbers they got $161m ($292m x 0.55) from the domestic and $109m ($254 x 0.43( from the overseas totalling $270m. i.e. gross receipts to Disney are $120m below the base cost. This film didn't just bomb, it went down harder than a carbon fibre coffin controlled by a gamepad aiming for the Titanic.

Am so looking forward to the scene where the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) asks the mirror "who is the fairest of them all?",. A blurry image forms in the mirror and slowly clears to show Rachel Zegler. The voice of the mirror then screams out, "well it ain't that skanky ho" before shattering into a million pieces.

Even if it broke even, it’d still be a massive failure.

You don’t make a movie just to “break even”, you want to actually make money off it.

Out of interest I looked to see if they are going to piss on Hercules' grave too with a live-action remake. Of course they are, and it will be a "modern" musical and will be "inspired by TikTok". My early guess is that Hercules is shown to fuck men, they raceswap Meg, and the muses will include a tranny.
Since James Woods has been unpersoned in Hollywood they should have Dylan Mulvaney play Hades. He did wonders for Bud Light's ESG/CEI score and could really help Disney be even more diverse and inclusive.

James woods and zero to hero is literally the only thing anyone remembers from that movie.

Disney has been butchering all their songs in the remakes and if you don't bring back james woods the remake is gonna bomb harder than the original.
