It's actually pretty smart in a way. If you cheat within your social circle then rumors would pop up and blackmail could be an issue. Doing it with porn gets you paid and nobody you know will be able to publicly speak on it.

First, many Japanese don't consider sex work cheating. And that includes both having sex with prostitutes and doing it yourself. You can see that in the video; the woman in question says that she doesn't want to cheat on her husband, but sees no problem being a pornstar behind his back. As far as they are concerned, its only cheating if there are feelings involved.

Second, cheating on your husband with someone close to you ups your chances of being caught. Many women in Japan go into porn because they perceive the chances of being caught by people they know as being minimal. Because so much porn is produced in Japan, the chances of anyone you know seeing a video you are in specifically are very, very small unless you become some kind of major star or big name. So a woman could conceivably do a few videos and never be caught. At least, that's how they see it.
