I think it has something to do with the colors to be honest. Furrys have a tendency to use distinct different contrasting shades on their subjects. Vibrant color distracts from the true nature of a subject. In grayscale or shades of fleshy pink, I think the viewer would find the subject horrifying. A prolapsed asshole on a normal person is fucking scary. What almost resembles a prolapsed asshole on a blob of distracting colors is more palatable.
