Counterpoint: Corporations for decades have treated their employees like interchangeable shit, and the zoomers are going in seeing how the older people in their lives were treated.A lot of younger people who are entering the workforce care about nothing more than the paycheck and have no issue letting everyone know it. Take everything you've heard about how terrible working in retail is and put all that frustration into a generation that has little interest in being "professional" and hiding it, and that's how they are. Also add everything that @GunCar Gary posted onto it.
I can't speak for them, but I guess it's a sense of entitlement and not knowing the value of a dollar. For myself, I can say that housing looks at income as a prerequisite. I cannot imagine working in retail. It's a tinderbox of bad human behavior and mismanagement.A lot of younger people who are entering the workforce care about nothing more than the paycheck and have no issue letting everyone know it. Yup. I'm basically counting the days till something catastrophic happens where I work. Everyone who knows and cares is attempting to fix or reverse it, but we're in the minority and it's just so massive and multifaceted that we're just stuck in triage mode constantly. It doesn't help that there's bullshit red tape everywhere that makes getting things done difficult to impossible, the majority of the team is half-assing it or is clueless as to fixing the infrastructure, and the limited money keeps getting diverted to useless bullshit and vanity projects.Actually has anyone else noticed an extreme decrease in basic competency lately?
I can't tell if the long awaited boomer holocaust has occurred or society is just so shitty and basic things like housing are so hopelessly out of reach that everyone stopped caring.
As someone who DID work in retail in high school -I cannot imagine working in retail. It's a tinderbox of bad human behavior and mismanagement.
People are going to feel considerable psychological damage from working a shit job where you watch helplessly while other people walk in and steal more from that job than you earn in a week from working there. How could that not hurt your resolve to keep going?I imagine the issues brewing with 9-5s come from three factors: increasing inflation, forced ESG, and (if you work in retail) constant shoplifting. Again, it doesn't help that management is not addressing employee burnout or frustration. You need the job to make ends meet, but you're barely making enough to live off of.
On paper, the solution would be to increase minimum wage for low-effort jobs. BUT, that could create other problems long term. If minimum wage increases, companies will find other means to cut costs. It'd be a bandage solution for our current inflation. Plus, adjusting your paycheck for inflation means that you're still "making" the same as before.People are going to feel considerable psychological damage from working a shit job where you watch helplessly while other people walk in and steal more from that job than you earn in a week from working there. To levels that should honestly terrify every fucking person out there. I work in a field where our decisions and judgment can and do affect other people for the rest of their lives - and my field has become infested with unqualified diversity hires and witless roasties whose understanding of the subject matter is about as deep as their understanding of criminal justice procedure from their binge watching of Law and Order SVU. The worst part is knowing that people who can technically call me "colleague" are actively wielding their malignant incompetence in such a way that it's spilling over and contaminating the outside world as well.Actually has anyone else noticed an extreme decrease in basic competency lately?

What do you call a doctor that graduated at the bottom of her class and had others do half of her work?To levels that should honestly terrify every fucking person out there. I think it is something even deeper than this, I was about 10 when 9-11 Happened, and more than seeing the towers fall in School..whatever else I think of the man I remember George Bush on the rubble giving a speech saying that "This was bad, but the goat fuckers who did this are gonna get a bomb up the ass."i think during that first half of 2020 the average american felt genuine fear for the first time in their lives. everyone processed it differently at the time, but no matter what political "side" of covid you were on it was made clear that both the government and the average citizen was completely incompetent.
Should never show his face ever again after that performance.Asa Hutchinson:
Biden's DOJ is prosecuting the opposition candidate for made-up crimes. It's already rigged.Call it naive hope if you want, but for a lot of people 2024 is the last chance to set things right.
If they rig it, I can see a lot of ex military or pissed off civies starting something. I dont think it will be like Jan 6, but who knows.
i can't blame them
any kind of service where you have to physically interact with people is fucking hell as a majority of people are utter fucking retards
