I'm sure DeSantis will win voters over with his tales of military service glory as a legal advisor and time at Guantanamo Bay.

He phrases his service in such a dishonest way, he was "coupled" or "linked" with a Navy SEAL team in the mideast, which makes you think Meatball was dropping from a chopper with Master Shake and Frylock just like in the Aqua Teen opening.

Nothing against @JosephStalin or @Jet Fuel Johnny, but boasting that you were in the military means nothing. Beside, being in the military to them means being a pencil pusher or giving orders to grunts with shiny pieces of tin.
Yeah my dad did payroll in Europe while he was a "Vietnam era veteran" but he makes no bones about his role being to guard a typewriter, and then one time there was a sheep hanging around the ammo dump that had been left behind accidentally from the flock that grazed at the base during the day.

In DeSantis' case, in context, he's more Master Shake than Meatwad.

But I've seen people saying Trump was already on trial with his second impeachment, and this would be double jeopardy. More than anything I just wish there was some way to have SCOTUS step in now and say "this is blatantly gay, it cannot go any further."
Here's something to consider. Trump was impeached the 2nd time after he was out of office. This supports the legal theory, which I endorse, that the PotUS is not subject to the whims of the local judiciary and must first be Impeached before any criminal court can touch him. It makes sense, since otherwise, any jumped-up faggot in a robe can threaten the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with whatever dogshit process crime they like, as we're seeing right now. This is puts the Executive at the mercy of the local Judiciary, which isn't checks or balances. The executive is accountable to the Legislature, via a process, outlined in the Constitution, called Impeachment. It is a protection against the exact partisan attacks we are seeing right now, and I want the SCotUS to make this explicit.

People who actually saw combat and weren't special forces tend to be morons.

That's not politically correct but it's true. The first thing anyone with an IQ over 90 does is figure out how to get assigned to non combat op.
That's the goal, but sometimes combat finds you. That's the nature of the battlefield. I went airwing assuming I'd never see combat, but occasionally a jet has to make an emergency landing in a bad part of town and you have to deal with rocket and mortar attacks trying to get it back. You can't send 60 IQ grunts to go pick up a 90 million dollar jet without them fucking it up royally, so the mechanics go in. You also sometimes get fucked with collateral duties where an admin guy might get stuck in a motor transport convoy that gets ambushed.

I don't think military vets are particularly special and post-WWII, there's a million less than noble reasons to join. Where I do give them credit is that most of them thought they were risking their lives for something they believed in, regardless of how false that belief was at the time. I still think that is a positive trait for humans to have, especially in a world that's increasingly more dominated by arm chair critics that are afraid to open their blinds in the morning lest they be forced to make eye contact with another human being.

There's also a really big benefit to getting exposed to the true nature of government up close at a young age. That, and traveling to non-tourist areas of foreign countries. It exposes you to perspectives you would have never gained otherwise, and jades you to the bullshit of bueurocracy early enough in life that you can avoid a lot of heartache. Otherwise, it's pointless now unless your goal is to promote gay imperialism.

One thing left and right have in common is they both expect foreigners to deliver salvation from the hated Other Side. Whether it's liberals being shocked that brown people from the desert hate fags, or it's conservatives being shocked that brown people from the tropics don't believe in gun rights, we bring a lot of trouble on ourselves because of our unwillingness to solve our own problems.

Yeah, I wonder if that originates from the "Noble Savage was close to mother earth" meme or something lol.

Or that they so fear of others seeing them as "Hitler" they would want someone else with a different skin to do it.

This is what happened to Fry's electronics. Some of it apparently was due to financial issues but I went into one a year or so before they collapsed and just wanted to find some canned air and a very common cable. They had neither.
We had a similar chain over here, called Maplin, that used to sell electronics and components, technical spares, interesting gadgets, and some cool toys. They had an extensive mail-order business for components and kits. You could buy electron gun tubes from them. Some time in the mid 2000s, they shifted down-market, chasing a high volume, low margin "gadget and toy" segment. In the process they killed the mail-order business, shunted all their electronics components to online-only through their fucking awful website, and shaved down their inventory to a fraction of what it used to be.

They're predictably dead, now. Went bust in 2018, got bought out and asset-stripped by a VC firm that now uses the maplin brand to sell drop-shipped chinese shite, like a poor-man's amazon.

Guess how many times Hillary was arrested? ZERO. Checkmate.
Dude, I've been arrested. Didn't mean shit.

For Liberals its optimism that these new people will be new allies and thus votes, for Conservatives its cope to deal with the fact that the country they cherish oh so much is being culturally and demographically altered forever along with many other things.

Perhaps the root cause has to do with the general inaction of such a stance since that is the ultimate end result of it. People want things to change but they want someone else to do it. It's a lot easier to talk then it is to act after all. It's a lot less risky to the individual to hope someone else liberates you then do it yourself. To be fair, the problems are many and to put it lightly some of them will require pulling teeth on a societal level and the sheer weight of such responsibility and all it entails will be off-putting to some.

Also in addition to this, I should just mention there is a faction of people who think there is some kind of misplaced moral motivation to the whole ordeal. For Democrats it's to mean that helping the black or brown person that may not really be qualified get elected may mean they are surely in their hearts the ultimate Progressive and on the ever dynamic and fluid "Right Side Of History (TM)". For Republicans sometimes the really dumb ones think by helping the minority person they'll show their political opposites they are the real not racists or whatever in a very foolish game of "we'll beat the liberals by being more liberal".

"So what your saying is, you respect those who fought for the Confederacy?" :smug:

It is pretty tragic that you can't just appreciate someone's courage, their conviction, their dedication to a cause they believe in even if you happen to disagree with it. You can't even give them a single concession, like "well they mean well even if they're delusional". And if you point this out to someone, sarcastically say "yeah you're right, all of the people you disagree with politically are pure evil and I hope they all die horribly" then they'll scoff and explain that in this case, actually, that basically is correct and their political opponents are just trying to get people killed out of sheer malice.

Re the competency crisis and shit.

I know it's said a lot but it really does feel like the Late Roman Republic as of late. The conditions are all the same. Out-of-touch oligarchic elite monopolizing land and housing while continuing to push people into an effectively powerless position. Rapid imperial expansion brings initial wealth and prosperity that was unseen before overstretching the Republic's abilities to function efficiently, with resources pulling around the oligarchic elite and associates. Political persecution of popular figures ala the Gracchi, Marius, and Caesar and their supporters. The desperation of those in political power unable to comprehend tolerating any threats internal or external.

It's really ironic considering how much the Founding Father's modeled the early US on the Republic and all the founders grew up educated on Livy, Suetonius, Cicero, and the rest. Especially now that I have seen some journos report that Trump was given news he would be indicted relating to muh Jan 6 and trying to overturn the most legitimate election ever. Just a shame Trump will never have the same balls Ceasar had.

Trump is no Caesar but at the very least his time as a political figure will continue to expose the continuing degradation and undermining of republican institutions In the USA. Where that will cause the country to go who knows but I think at this point in living memory a record numbers of Americans recognize that the system is broken and it is pointless to have much faith in it. The unending social crises the country faces is one thing, the slow unraveling farce of an illusion we call modern day fair "law and order" is another. Combine these things with the rising polarization and we'll see what happens.

Agreed. He certainly has the popular support of Ceasar, but that can be said about any major Populares. The lasting legacy of Trump regardless of how long or short the Union continues to exist will be in how his simple existence as President exposed how much the Uniparty hates all of us.

Video trickling out from Meatball's sit-down, taped interview with Fake Jake Tapper. Whoever is giving him these talking points is setting him up to fail, and notice how Tapper doesn't interrupt him at all, compared to how T-Bone was bitch slapping that cunt *live* for so long they ended the townhall earlier than planned.

So Trump just posted that he's getting arrested for the third time. I'm out of sarcastic remarks at this point, this is just insane.
This is kinda a white pill for me becouse it proves they are still scared of him and think there isnt a zero percent chance he could win even with all their rigging.

The black pill is the part of me that say's they'll kill him.

What could a bunch of dead, white, male slaveowners know about government?
