I have news that Disney is doing a live action Aristocats remake, except Trump said something about "grabbing by the pussy..." and obviously 'pussy' is slang for a cat, so all of the characters are actually going to be dogs now for maximum ESG.

With the rumors swirling that Iger might be in fact be readying to sell Disney to Apple now is a great time I write about the downfall of Pixar and Disney Animation as a whole, which I believe can in be attributed to the action of Apple and the friends of the late Steve Jobs. Now I'm not accusing any companies of malicious activity but I can't help but connect the dots and feel it has to be intentional to hurt Disney. For brevity I'm not going to cite every single statement I make only linking to relevant news stories.

A quick history on Pixar - Pixar was started by George Lucas In the late 70s and then sold to Apple Founder Steve Jobs. While to many Jobs may have appeared largely hands off when it came to Pixar that's not the case according to the man most associated with Pixar, John Lasseter. Lasseter said, "We were so close he became like a brother to me,” I don't think I have to tell you about Lasseter, he is without a doubt the most important storyteller in Disney's history after Walt himself. The man created and directed Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and The Cars merchandise cash cow along with executive producing every classic Pixar movie after Pixar was bought by Disney's Iger in a leadership position for all of Disney's animated films including Frozen.

Lasseter gets MeToo'd goes to Skydance - In 2017 Lasseter was shitcanned from Disney, the apparent allegation is that he really liked grabbing, hugging, and kissing women staff. Yet that wasn't enough to make Lasseter ride off into the sunset instead he joined a new studio Skydance Animation. Who is Skydance you might ask, well Skydance was founded by David Ellison, the young son of Oracle Founder and Billionaire Larry Ellison. What makes this fascinating is that Larry Ellison was close friends with Steve Jobs. Ellison was such a believer in Steve Jobs that Ellison wanted to buy Apple just so that Steve Jobs could be reinstalled as the CEO, I find it fascinating that after parting ways with Disney for a second time Lasseter joined a corporation connected to an old friend of Steve Jobs.

Lasseter's revenge and the Disney Brain Drain - It might be easy to write off Skydance Animation, so far they've only done one forgettable CGI movie with Lasseter in charge and it apparently wasn't very good. But note what's on the poster for Luck.

AppleTV+! How funny, turns out that Apple has signed a multifilm and television deal with Skydance, guaranteeing that the new studio doesn't have to weather Box Office totals unlike Disney. But most importantly Skydance has nabbed top talent that Disney has relied upon. Brad Bird (The Incredibles & Ratatouille) has signed with Skydance Animation and so has Rich Moore (Wreck It Ralph & Zootopia). Those are two veteran animation directors that Disney definitely wishes they still had.

So yeah am I suggesting that the Ghost of Steve Jobs is purposely destroying Disney? Of course not maybe it all just fell into place after Lasseter was labelled a sexpest. But isn't it fascinating that Apple and the Ellison family has gone out of their way to create a what essentially is a new Pixar out of nowhere? If the rumors are true that Disney might be sold to Apple I'd think what's there to gain? They already have an exclusive deal with the visionary that saved their animation studio. Why spend a fortune to own a megacorp that can't get their shit together?

If the rumors are true that Eisner might go to Disney I'd think what's there to gain? He was already president of one of the most lucrative movie studios in the world. Why spend a fortune to own a company that can't get their shit together?
- people circa 1984. You forget Disney went through an equally rough nadir in the early 80s, and it was an equally surprising shakeup like that that brought about the Renaissance. I'm not saying that's definitely going to happen should Apple buy Disney, but who knows?

Also Steve Jobs was crucial in DreamWorks getting off the ground and weathering a lot of their disappointing box offices until his death. DreamWorks was already trying new things by then, and making modest success that wasn't Shrek, but it was sadly too late.

So yeah, I can believe Steve Jobs wanted to knock Disney down a peg or two, or at least wanted to give them a worthy competitor.

The concept of Iger selling Disney to Apple after massive losses from streaming as a means to focus even more on streaming and also try even harder to get into the Chinese market, which has ignored Disney stuff constantly no matter how hard they try, is so stupid that I'd believe it could happen. This is the same company that bought one of the most iconic film libraries of all time, 20th Century Fox, and proceeded to sit on it after all. We haven't even gotten a true Alien ride at Disney World out of it.

iirc in the long long ago there was legends that Alien Encounter started as an Alien license ride
Seems like an easy fit, that 90s revamp of Tomorrowland was basically a World's Fair riff
WY is the pavilion sponsor (instead of XS) AudioAnimatronic Bishop with veteran character actor Lance Henrikson (instead of veteran character actor Tim Curry) intros the show, facehugger in the tube (instead of the plush toy), eggs in the windows leading into the seating area (instead of random tubes), Xeno in the main theater (instead of Original Xeno Do Not Steal)

Steve Jobs was involved with Pixar, not Dreamworks. And he sold Pixar to Disney for over $7billion

On the rumors of Apple buying Disney, I do see Apple buying one of the big media companies but could see it being any of them, however with Dismey unsure if Apple would want to be in the theme park and other business areas Disney is in.

Been a lot of speculation about Apple buying one of the big media companies for years, and they nearly bought MGM before Amazon beat them.

I'm not sure Apple buying Disney would pass anti-trust. The Disney buying Fox deal was amended to exclude the regional sports channels as well as some other concessions, and that was under a Republican admin (and Congress for the most part). I know Apple and Disney are darlings of the liberalatti, but I don't know they could get such a thing past the regulators without some serious business unit break-ups.

I think Disney is too big for anybody to buy at the moment
Like a month or so back they sold the Queen library for a quick billion. And that was just one scrap from the pile of random shit they've picked up over the years.
Def expecting some more individual assets moving though
Yeah, at best, they will sell off random 20th Century Fox materials, at worst, expect Marvel and Lucas Arts to go. Pixar is probably safe due to the brand being so tied into Disney.

2014 Comcast also tried to get Time Warner, but stopped with legal pushback. Also been rumors they may go for Warner Bros Discovery or Paramount due to how badly Peacock is doing.
My bet would be on Paramount as they are likely easier to acquire given that they are also struggling in streaming and are not a huge mess like Warner currently is. Plus, Nickelodeon/Paramount and Universal are pretty tied into each other already, could be a good way to get Nick Studios back into the parks and maintain things like Transformers and SpongeBob.

I think they'll try to hold on to Lucasarts and Marvel. They've put serious money into them at the parks.
I think easier big ticket stuff off the top of my head would be ESPN, ABC, some chunks of Fox and various real estate like the Vero Beach resort.

Lucas and Marvel are a last resort given how little they are bringing in now. Biggest guess would be Fox's material as outside the Simpsons and I guess Home Alone, Disney has done nothing with it. They just bought it for Star Wars and Marvel, so terrible investments galore.

Maybe Alien and Predator, but iirc last time the Terminator IP changed hands it was stupid cheap like less than ten million, so I dunno if they'll get anything big either

So there is a Gargoyles movie in developement, which is going to be directed by Kenneth Barunath which is giving me mixed vibes.

On the one hand, Thor 1 and the Poriot films are good. But on the other, he did give us Artimus Fowl and the 2015 Disney Cinderella, so I am not sure how this will go, but at least it isn't being worked on by Micheal Bay much like the TMNT.
I saw another article about this, kind of doubtful since this seems to be a rumour that's come up a few times. The live action Gargoyles has been planned for a while and gone back and forth.

I think it's plausible to do. I can't see it being done well at the moment but I'll happily listen to the original voice actor time and again.

Also while I am certain this got posted before they managed to get a reference to the show into the Ducktales reboot. Which was a kind of neat effect at least for a children's cartoon.
