The faces continue to look worse and worse with each passing game. Unreal Engine can do way better than this. Seems Warner told them to make the women as ugly as possible which is becoming quite normal in Western games. I'll probably stick with Street Fighter 6 this gen. It has Cammy still so it's the better game.

As someone who grew up in halcyon days of the 90s and thus a golden age of palette swaps in kids' media (Mortal Kombat itself, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, old-school Mario Bros...) the Lin Kuei logically sharing the same base uniform outside colors and slight details pleases me. Rain's outfit is cool looking and he'd have no logical reason to mimic them despite being a "ninja" as well, so all good. But as someone whose favorite color is red they keep doing Ermac dirty in lame-looking costumes since MKX. I hope Reptile's costume will at least look as good as Rain's.

But GODDAMN, Tanya going from a sultry Copt to a terrifyingly ugly negress horrifies me. At least Li Mei was aged up in MKX's story so I can take her being older and not necessarily pretty when push came to shove but Tanya... yeesh. I KNOW all her fans are crying on the inside no matter what they'll say on twitter and tumblr and shit.

Odd that WWE allowed them to use John Cena's likeness as I believe they still own it as part of their BS trademarks and stuff, and why is Takeda there? Is Liu Kang just messing up the timeline already? His ending claimed he'd be more responsible than that.

Li Mei should be younger as this is the first Mortal Kombat hence why it's called Mortal Kombat 1. We should be seeing the attack on Edenia and the first Mortal Kombat tournament that led to Edena becoming part of Outworld. May even see Onaga in a cutscene.

I also find Li Mei's fatality to be a bit boring.

Somehow, I find that to be more of an insult to Reggie than to Tanya. Also, the costume in the second picture looks more like a bland Sub-Zero that’s been turned into a woman.

I admit that it’s been a while since I played New Age Mortal Kombat, but I don’t remember it being scaled back like this in more than just a few years.

I don't think there's been any gameplay yet. I had to google who homelander was and it seems like he's got more of the standard loadout of Flight/Strength/Laser vision with sonic screams. From what I remember OmniMan is just an old school flying brick without any of the ranged powers. Depending on how clever NRS is there's a couple of ways of making them play different.

I lost interest in these games when they started taking themselves so seriously. Also the x-ray moves really ruined it for me. They slow down the gameplay and you're just sitting there waiting for the animation you've seen hundreds of times to end so you can continue mashing buttons. Deception was the last good MK game in my opinion. Konquest mode was the shit.

Worst part in this case is that MK11 was the worst case scenario for this when it came to women. But at least the guys looked cool as fuck to an extent, not MKX cool, but still kinda cool, specially some of the new designs like Fu-Jin, Rain, Kabal, etc.. even if this also helped show NRS' design hypocrisy among other things.

They actually made it worse for MK12 so that now even the men look like shit too. They're worse than boring, they're borderline ugly, same with MK11 women too.

Edit: I just checked the Kombat pack trailer & goddamn does Ermac look bad. Also, I'm actually shocked at myself at first for not being excited for Takeda. I actually really liked him in MKX. The face that he's back & I'm not excited at all... I don't know if it's me or the game just feels anti-hype at this point.

The men are worse than before, just like the girls. The ratio this time is between mediocre & fugly.

Also, IDK if it's just me, but everyone looks slimmer for some reason compared to just MK11 alone. It's like NRS took the MK11 comparisons between the male characters all being huge & shirtless, while women were more plain to heart & in borderline burkhas, & just decided MK12 would have men & women be plain? Look at Johnny, dude was huge in MK11, & even more swole in MKX, now looks like a normal uncle in MK1. Not just him either, Liu Kang slimmed down considerably. Erron Black already looked a bit twinky in 11 compared to MKX, but here, everyone looks slimmer, that's on top of looking boring. How the fuck do you make Erron Black of all characters, boring of all things?

I'm not even talking about the girls, these are just guys. I'll go full MATI talking about the girls post MKX. I'll be shocked if that Bayonetta leak came true & they tried to censor her of all girls.

It's not impossible as proven by Japan pulling it off flawlessly all the time in Tekken, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, & fuck ton of anime & manga.
