Yes, his character was supposed to be trans too. I watched the series and it was pretty explicitly stated. The make up and hair department also clearly wants to make Olly as clockable as possible.

It's funny how most of the roles he gets seem to come down to "clockable tranny". I'd say it's nothing but a gauntlet of humiliation but he obviously cares more about being seen as a transwoman as opposed to an actual woman.

I slightly disagree, I reckon he just takes what he can get. It doesn't matter to him because he can always spin it any way he likes. The 'trans' qualifier is only used when it's convenient.

It might be illuminating to reiterate the fact that the theatre world in the Anglosphere is, alongside 'high literature' publishing, subject to the oldest and longest bout of institutional capture by genderspecials. I'd be inclined to give Ollie some marks for stretching his costume budget since I used to mock him for his terrible cheapo looks, but this is really just him spending £325/$420 on fetishwear (or more likely £460/$590 with a +35% fee for made to measure and the pre-shine ready to wear option) while everything that's not specifically fetishwear is still going to be cheapo crappy stuff. From the report by the Home Office that disclosed these statistics: "Transgender identity hate crimes rose by 56 per cent (from 2,799 to 4,355) over the same period, the largest percentage annual increase in these offences since the series began. Transgender issues have been heavily discussed on social media over the last year, which may have led to an increase in related hate crimes."
So in other words, people were stuck indoors and went on the internet, more normies got peaked, normies started discussing it on social media, normies got reported for harassment/malicious communications.

The trial is only just starting. Due to reporting restrictions on minors, there's a bit of a media blackout. However I will say that Warrington and Leigh are not big towns and so all the local teens already know lots of the gossip and have happily shared it on TikTok, and have allegedly identified the alleged killers. Allegedly one of them is also trans. I'll let you be the judge of the veracity of these leaks.
