That's incredibly stupid from a business stand point. No one needs to be an expert to tell him that branding is all that Twitter has. I fear now that when Twitter dies after it's re-branding that all these Twitter spergs are going to infest the Internet again like what happened with Tumblr. I hope they all just got to Reddit where the other half of the Tumblr users went.

Renaming your company to a single letter would require an almost delusional level of confidence and sounds like something that would be brought up in a business meeting where everyone involved was on cocaine.

There are only a few single letter dot-com domains as they stopped allowing them in 1993. According to the Internet(tm) x.com was owned by "Weinstein & DePaolis" at the time.

Twitter was adopted by politicans, marketing teams, businesses and celebrites. The cancer always had a direct pipelline to people of influence on it. It was never contained.

It's either a sign that more change will come. Personally, I could see Twitter taking on YouTube and Instagram, in fact, with Twitter now paying content creators I'm fairly certain we'll see a hybridization of all of the legacy social media.
