>remember that JoJo Part 6 ended and skim most of the series
>forget that Stone Ocean is Stone Ocean

I honestly like the ending a bit, it’s not bittersweet, it’s literally apocalyptic and I like how Made in Heaven was animated. I can’t really say the ending wasn’t satisfying, but it’s a bit sad. I think Steel Ball Run’s fight with Valentine literally contradicts the possible bittersweetness of Stone Ocean’s ending though. The new Universe Jolyne isn’t Jolyne and Emperio will never see his friends again.

I feel like the Steel Ball Run is honestly good fun, but Jojolion and Jojolands kinda suck.
In the case of Stone Ocwan, the beginning and ending were spoiled to me and in both cases turned out not to be true - Jotaro didn't die and while the whole world was reset, it really only meant the main characters "died" while the characters from different arcs remain the same (as they were already born and their plotlines didn't intersect). And I ended up really liking the insanity and brutality of the final battle, and the way the antagonist was beaten was way better than "I suddenly gain a new skill to counter yours".

Jotaro didn’t die

I don’t know why we are spoiling a 2 decade old manga (yes, it literally ended in 2003). Jotaro did die. The first universal reset made a universe without them with other people playing their roles, after the second they do come back and Pucci isn’t in that universe.

From what I remember if you die while Made in Heaven is active then you don’t show up in the next Universe. Irene is not Jolyne, Johnny’s whole argument with Valentine literally invalidates Part 6’s ending being happy.
I’m not angry, but I just found it funny that Araki invalidated his own ending. The ending is something I enjoy for how off the walls it goes and ends with a man getting his head crushed by effectively a hydraulic press.

holy fucking shit the balls on GSC must be fucking diamonds for this

Jotaro just gets disk-ified and gets well after they retrieve th disks, it's more of a coma than death.

The second universe I saw as a world where Pucci didn't exist, so it makes a butterfly effect with the other characters, but in the end those are not the originals (or at least don't share their memories) so Pucci gets the honour of a (nearly) whole team kill.

Jotaro got killed by Pucci after Pucci killed Anasui. Pucci literally spilts his skull in half, it’s why he has a doppelgänger rather than reappearing in Reset Universe #1.

Reset Universe #2 is butterfly effect of Pucci dying and not being present in it. They are effectively alternate versions of them. They’re what Valentine promises Johnny in Part 7 when Johnny is debating siding with Valentine. A familiar face, but not the person you shared joys and sorrows with.
Pucci did kill the Stone Ocean team, but he didn’t win. Emperio snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, but he’s the only survivor. It’s a really bitter victory, but I like it.

Oh, I meant that "Jotaro dies at the start of the arc" that I heard as spoilers, not death in the final battle. I like how F.F. basically describes the difference in universe #2 when she dies "it might look the same but it doesn't hold the same memories".

Poor Emporio, might be the most tragic character in all the series.

Yeah, it’s a weird thing because with Stand Disks and the Memory disks I was hoping Emperio could have his cake and eat it too. Like maybe Pucci collected the disks off them as he killled them or something, Emperio has fucking Weather Report after all that.

Foo Fighters legit gained a fucking soul at the end so I honestly was holding out hope that maybe she’d show up at the very end and wave to Emperio as an actual person in the 2nd Universe.

I will say that One Piece is probably super popular because it openly fights against the nilihistic attitudes of the modern world. A lot of kids I talk to (both Japanese and American) are terrified of the idea of having an adventre or two. I loved reading books like Huckleberry Finn and manga like Bleach because it was about facing a bold and new world, full of dangers and delights. I still prefer media like that but it is falling out of vague. Many people today are comfortable not having surprises but opening hate the lot they've been giving. "Apathy is Death"

edit: I am a softy and kids today kinda make me want to cry.
One Piece feels like Dragon Ball minus the kung fu stuff. Its to me the ultimate JRPG manga and the most Toriyama non Toriyama manga out there as much as people have tried to copy Dragon Ball and Dr Slump. Dragon Ball is like a Kung Fu movie JRPG game with wacky characters, One Piece is like a Mario Party like JRPG with even wackier characters. Partially Im not so invested in One Piece cause it feels unnecessarily long and a lot of the arcs initially, stuff like the Kuro arc and the Restaurant Ship arc made me drop it cause it became tedious. I wanted more of Zoro the war criminal, Luffy and Cowboy Shanks instead it gives me stupid fucking characters with too much side questing instead of main questing.

This intro has no right slapping so hard. The series itself is actually very good too, with nice cel animation and lots of cool battles and robot designs. There's an excellent amount of variety in the series too, despite being an episodic super robot anime, which keeps things interesting. Give it a chance, even if just for a laugh.

So Ex-Arm did end up being a preview for what's to come...
i feel like we are already there. Whenever i check out some show its all ugly cg coupled with uncanny rotoscope that makes me instantly nope out. The pool of good 2d animators is drying or the studios are just too kiked to want to do things that way anymore so endless ps2 cutscene looking anime it is.
