Given what they have done to D&D over the past five years I should have realized that the woke politics of WotC would somewhat affect Baldur's Gate 3. To what extent that is what we are going to find out.

I really dont know how i'm gonna feel about this game fellas. i played through all of Divinity 2 but don't look back on it fondly. Wasn't crazy about 20 or so hours i put into the beta, the only memorable moment was my dwarf chucking one of the bosses into a canyon. But i played Solasta more recently which ended up playing similar and it really won me over.

Yeah, they seriously dropped the ball on Icebrood; the entire story bit of Bangar getting backstabbed by Jormag, leaving him to get captured by the PC and co., and putting an idiot in charge of the Frost Legion - which had been fairly successful up until that point - was completely nonsensical. Seriously, the current year shit destroyed the game; granted, there were already some warning signs beforehand; i.e., acting as if the Searing from the first game was a good thing, acting as though mankind deserved to get destroyed for it and retconning the game to make the Charr look like they were in the right, and treating the fanbase with contempt when they complained about the shitty retcons. It's all absurd.

There's the bear sex, but also there's one part where you open a door to walk in on ogres fucking, I think I saw that screenshot somewhere in this thread so hope that's not a spoiler. It's "adult = something a 13 year old boy would find funny" tier writing; whoever said that AAA games can't be genuinely adult is right. That's not a woke thing, most adults just aren't adult anymore so there's no audience for a Hero's Journey of challenge, self-examination, change, and triumph.

I bought the Early Access as soon as I saw that it was turn-based - Temple of Elemental Evil and the Gold Box games were the only D&D games I've ever enjoyed, so whatever Baldur's Gate nostalgia they have in the game is lost on me. I've played through what's been available three times and it's a fun game system apart from 5e PCs being born superheroes compared to AD&D and 3e characters. I think the die rolling animation is fun, adds drama, and roots it in the table-top world, and now you can speed up the animations by right-clicking. But the story is just terrible and they made Volo a total fool and irritating theater kid so I can just imagine what they'll do to Elminster when they eventually cram him in somewhere. Also, the latest release had more weird "we're rushing now" bugs like missing dialogue that had placeholder text visible, it's not going to be good.

It's dumb that people here are saying "don't just repeat what other people are complaining about" when 1/3 of the game is already released and playable, and it's a shitty, tired story with unlikeable companions and bad dialogue.

I don't buy a lot of games, but this is the last thing I'll pay for Early Access for, and honestly I can't imagine buying another AAA RPG, it's just another thing that's obviously not for me anymore, throw it on the giant pile with the rest of the shit I used to think I kind of enjoyed.

I'm curious, if my wife and I play together and I play as one of the origin characters and she plays as a character she made herself does she lose any interactions she may have had with the origin character I choose? Trying to figure out the best way for us to play and her have the best experience since I plan to also do solo runs where I can be the center of the story.

You also can't take the story seriously because these people also don't like conflict and find it triggering. Now I am more curious then ever to see the writing of the finish product for this game. It will be interesting to compare it to the other types of sludge made to appeal to women and queers that has come out in the past five years.
