Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
It's no surprise that Linus pushes for high-end gear for the sake of high-end gear, that's been most of his content to date. He's always fallen into that category of PC enthusiast that doesn't do much with his expensive system running the latest and greatest hardware, using games and productivity tools more for benchmarking than entertainment or making anything of note. Gearqueers exist throughout all hobbies, and they should all be laughed at.
In the handyman world, that's like basically having a full set of Snap-on tools even though the Harbor Freight special, or even just mid grade shit, gets the job done. Listen, it's nice to have a American made hammer. You don't actually need it. Same with all this tech bro Geerqueer shit, be it 12k cameras or petabyte servers. There are cheaper yet still effective solutions.

If he was actually using this tech to its full potential, fine. He isn't. He's racking up a massive power bill, buying expensive hardware that's going to the scrap heap, and with his servers, building it to fail.

Things like this are often said with resolution upgrades, but you really don't notice until you get used to what you have.

I have a 4k monitor now and any video, games, porn in 1080p is noticeably less quality to me to where I'm a snob. I used to be a poorfag with shit internet that thought who'd ever need more than 720p, it's clear enough.
while true, the opposite is true as well: ignorance is bliss.
why dump hundreds, if not thousands into 4k, when 1080p does the job for a fraction of the price, without depending on gimmicks or paying for their nvidia-tax (especially when you high resolution AND high framerate at the same time)?

4k will be better of course, but cost/benefit is always a factor unless you got literally fuck you (or patreon simp) money. for example squeezing one out to a 720p video, even on a 4k monitor, will have the exact same effect (and for a literal different experience might as well spend that money on a VR setup).

We have LTT now, just throwing whatever expensive shit there is to be had for the simple fact that it's overkill and expensive.

The abyss stares back once again.
I think that's part of the "brand" and "experience". plenty of normalfags who have no clue and buy a premade dell box look at the pricetag and high spec numbers and go "whoa" about stuff they could never afford or need, while another part of the "audience" watches just to see how retarded he'll be handling that equipment, going "what a doofus" while giving him clicks and possibly still simp money.
it also gives the impression of "professionalism" because people think he obviously can't be retarded if he buys expensive equipment (he doesn't really need, but they don't understand that).

and what the fuck is a 12k? I've only heard of 8k and practically nothing out there supports it.
intel has been dropping 12k for marketing hot air in 2017, because higher>better

(only source I could find, rest seems to have been purged or slided of the search results)

ease of use.
resolve is powerful but very unintuitive and with it being designed for cinema work, its frustrating when you wanna use it to make a YouTube video.
I agree with these points, plus DaVincifags are some of the most obnoxious shitheads this side of Reddit. They preach how great Resolve is and how everyone should use it whilst simultaneously screeching at anyone asking simple questions in the official forum and elsewhere.

I suspect the reason for this is because Resolve was the purely the domain of professional film editors and cinematographers up until a few years ago, and there's resentment towards the massive wave of newfags trying to use it without paying their dues in the film industry first.

On that point, Linus is using cameras that are designed for cinema work and using an editor designed for more general purpose work. No wonder his staff are having such a bad time getting the footage to play nicely with Audition.

100% agree that Kdenlive is a perfectly cromulent video editor for many YouTuber use cases.
People have made better videos with far worse equipment.
A good workman will get much further with shitty tools than a shitty workman will with good tools.

I honestly don't get why he still uses cinema grade shit

He acknowledges that YouTube compresses their videos, he justifies it by putting the cinema grade videos in floatplane yet floatplane is already in the shits and it only makes up less than 5% of their total revenue.
The cinema grade footage is stored in his million dollar servers that breaks every time and he spends million of dollars to replace/fix it.

I had to stop watching at 3:55 because the fucking hipster's clothes, on top him lying in order to come up with a reason to talk to customer support made me actually angry and wanted to punch the douche in the face. I don't even know if the support was giving the right information I'm on their side just out of hate for leaf hipsters.

The LTX content begins, this time with Linus unboxing a pc that people got if they bought into the $10k mega-simp tier for the lan event so he could put a 10 gigabit ethernet card in it and break a cable cover. Logistics apparently already bent the feet on all of these systems too by stacking them on top of each other after starforge "hand delivered" them.
I got bored and slapped the shown parts together on pcpartpicker, and its a $4579.81 USD PC minus any assembly, shipping, or the custom wrap.

Give Linus $10k, get a PC in a huge, ugly ass case with a fucking whale on the side. With bent feet because his employees are all incompetent hipsters.
Look at this guy, just look at him:

Feeling generous and saying the assembly etc was $250 I guess they kept to their promise of a ~$5000 PC

Could have filled in the RAM at least for that price.
Considering the price it could have been built to spec as long as it was below $5000 but the point of these tickets is to make margin, not test LTT employees clearly lacking competence.

Anthony wrote the review for the new Mac Pro. I'm not calling him by his trans name, but he is credited under it.

And no, GPUs don't work in the Mac Pro. But the honeybadger nvme card works.

I'd sooner wear a PornHub shirt than a Discord shirt. The former is far less degenerate than the latter.
