Horrible yet uncanceled - Shows that Just. Don't. Stop.

It’ll never die, The Simpsons will literally exist till the sun explodes, ffs.
It comes to no surprise that we live in an era where soulless, sadistic companies have milked the same exact IPs for so long that it's totally inhumane. With Disney being the most evil company, it will never kill The Simpsons, nor Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Family Guy, Muppets, Alien vs. Predator nor ESPN.

Necroing this thread to talk about Law & Order. It's so garbage these days, lost so much of its magic when its original cast left. It's unrecognizable and just became overall dull. Yet it just got reviewed for a 22nd season and I fear it's going to go down the route of Simpson.

It's funny looking back at the first posts in this thread from 2013 and seeing people talk about how badly shows like the Simpsons and Family Guy needed to be put down. Nine years later, they still haven't been cancelled. That's depressing as hell.

South Park hasn't been worth a shit since like 2012, and even by then it had been on the decline for years. I can't make it more than five minutes into any episode made after 2016. It's just so fucking angsty and unfunny.

Late-night talk shows in general need to die already. Who even watches them? What purpose do they even serve except giving legacy media stations an excuse to shit up YouTube's recommendations page? Before the internet, late night talk shows were a good way to watch celebrities jack each other off, but now you can get that from Twitter. They're a source of pro-establishment propaganda, but who needs late-night shows for that when it's already almost impossible to escape from propaganda? Even newer gas pumps have a screen that will blare propaganda at you now. It's hard for me to imagine that even the most rabid social justice zealot is so desperate to have their biases confirmed that they'll sit through Colbert's boring routine just for one or two lukewarm anti-Republican jokes.

Do web creators and webtoons count? Cause I can think of a few:
asdfmovie may have been funny for a time and even though only 1 episode comes out per year for about 14 years or so, it's clear Tom lost his edge on what made asdfmovie enjoyable in the first place. Either that or I've grown up to not like this type of "LOLSORANDUM" humor, probably both.

SMG4 was also a bit similar. His content focusing on shitposty machinimas involving mario 64 and gmod models dicking around in whatever premise they had for an episode that was quite enjoyable. Now they have a bunch of OC Donut Steels taking up the cast and from what I've gathered, they hardly have any of the old mario characters if at all in newer episodes. And to abide by YouTube's rules they had to tone down their edge factor to be a lot more ad friendly and so in turn their humor had taken a noisedive into unamusing.

Matpat was an interesting gaming channel theorizing about gaming lore along with some mathematics here and there that felt charming in a way. Even if most of his old theory videos hardly (if ever) held up, it still felt like a man and some group of people passionate about games and trying to figure out the hidden lore behind it all. Now I can't even fucking imagine trying to keep up with Matthew's videos since you know there's gonna be some incredibly inaccurate detail that completely crumbles the theory at its base. Not to mention the overall filler, unfunny jokes, and just personally cannot stand Matthew as a person on screen anymore. And the fact that he's got 3 concurrent channels involving Games, Movies/Shows, and Food now? Good God imagine being a fucking Game Theory fan in Current Year trying to keep up with all that shit.

When thr fuck is Grey's Anatomy going to end? Does anyone have a prediction on what the last season will be? It's currently on season 19.
My prediction is next season. Round it out on season 20, call it a day. Ellen Pompeo has left. They just had a major scandal with a head writer faking cancer (among other things). They’re trying to bring in a younger cast to mimic the early days, but it’s clearly not working. Just put a fork in it already.

Anything from Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening. South Park's also gotten terribly shitty in the past 15-so years.
You take that back. The Orville is the best Trek currently on TV.

Yes, see my complaints in the Law & Order thread. The original was willing to entertain the discussions from both sides of an argument. The necro'd L&O is unnuanced, retarded, and just plain shit. It is really sad they brought back a really interesting show, to make such garbage.

In one episode some lawyer can't understand why another lawyer needs to separate personal feelings from professional obligations. This is how fucking stupid the new version is. And the professional feelings guy, being a man, doesn't get to fire back at the woman levelling charges against him. Its all so tired, and stupid.

I will admit that I like to watch the early seasons with the original cast and everyone's favorite sociopath, Elliot Stabler.

Pretty fucking true. I happen to know a lot of people who are obsessed with John Oliver for example and fucking hell, he's so annoying. People and furries will sit through his garbage however because "muh trans rights", "muh acab" and "le drumpf".

I kid you not about the furry shit.

Also, I can't quite forgive him for the absolute butchering of Zazu in the Lion King remake.

At least people are waking up to the fact that Kimmel and Corden are living dog turds. Now if only the rest of them got the same treatment.

Good lord, Dick Wolf must be crying himself to sleep every night, seeing what his show has become.

I'm pretty sure Mystery Diners is still running. Unlike some of the shows mentioned here, that one was bad from the beginning. Despite running for 12+ seasons, I would've never heard of it if not for Ralphthemoviemaker's review. It's one of the most baffling "how and why does this exist" shows.

Wasn't there a couch gag with that sort of premise in mind, animated by Don Hertzfeldt? Feels surprisingly fitting considering that it's all about the gradual decay over an endless amount of seasons until it's nothing but gibberish and the occasional reference.

I will throw Bar Rescue and Hell's Kitchen into that pile too.
I don't mind Bar Rescue so much but it feels like it's stuck with an Ouroboros. There are only so many shitty bars across America.

Same with Hell's Kitchen. It's currently running its 22nd season but it's kinda meh now. Gordon Ramsey has lost much of his earlier wit and bluntness. He will still curse, but he doesn't have as much bite as he used to.

And I don't expect him to be as spicy as he used to be; he's 56 after all despite not aging for the last decade. He's mellowing out but so is the entire show.

Also holy shit, the gimmicks, they are doing now. Young Guns, All Stars, Rookies vs Veterans, and now Battle of The Ages. This one doesn't make any sense anymore because it was quickly retconned into "men vs women" since the boomers sucked so much.

The Sous Chefs aren't as interesting as Scott and Andie even though I do like Christina Wilson and Jason Santos.
It also suffers from the dreaded blood oath to the ratings so untalented, annoying fucks stay way past their due date, pushing out far more talented cooks, who are more deserving.

I stopped giving a shit after season 14.

Cyberchase is still on, despite changing to the same shit flash animation that Arthur did after budget cuts in 2012.
What the fuck? It is only up to 136 episodes, 14 seasons despite running since 2002. So it isn't like it's been made non-stop since then but the entire idea and zeitgeist behind the show when it was made is essentially dead. The internet has long stopped being new and exciting and even kids likely realize it isn't after not very long. The older episodes have to make little sense to someone growing up now. You're right about the animation, too.

Is PBS just incentivized to not let these dead brands die because it's cheaper to keep them going than make a new series? They're still partially tax funded, right?

Along with NCIS, it's one of the few major crime procedural shows left that reliably pull in views.

Speaking of NCIS, how the fuck that shitshow is on season 21 after having the entire original cast leave is beyond me. Even JAG struggled to get people watching after 8 seasons and that was a far better show.

I was gone when Ziva left. Speaking of (finally) canceled shows, it's good they shut down Criminal Minds finally (back in 2020 but I had stopped caring well before then).
