One potential explanation though it's not exactly scientific, is simply group/herd mentality. The extreme rise in trannies, especially in younger people, mirrors goths/emos 10 years ago that you saw during high school if you were born around the 90s. It's young adults who don't quite fit in with their peers trying to find a place within the current trend. You and a sibling both have 35 from your genetics, then he has some kind of environmental exposure that gives him the extra 15 and you don’t.
It’s certainly not (in most cases) a single gene although there are single gene disorders that give autistic type symptoms as part of the symptom set. I am convinced there’s a fatty acid metabolism in mitochondria thing happening which kind of explains the gut link, but it’s a complex thing

My conclusion is that if autistic people do have children, they tend to do it later in life.

The authors of studies linked in the above looked at this as well. It’s possible that autopsy’s marry later, both behaviourally driven and the fact that they tend to have careers that need a lot of grad training like PhDs. But they concluded that didn’t account for the whole of the effect.

I agree that 'autism' isn't really one thing but it's a symptom. I also don't think it's a unified 'neurotype' either - it's been noted that a lot of severely abused and neglected children can seem autistic, but the deep scrutiny show them to be quite different. I'm pretty sure a lot of these children were misdiagnosed with autism - however if you bring this up to neurodiversity advocates they'll lose their shit, just like how detransitioners are told that they're either trannies in denial or they are just posers, because the narrative says that trannyism is inborn and can never be mistaken. These people literally think it is impossible for autism to be misdiagnosed, and that they are so 'wired differently', but like how troons can't provide the evidence for their ladybrains, they can't provide you the concrete evidence of their 'wired diferently' brains either.

The argument that 'Autism is increasing and it's not because of broadening the criteria' gotta be a psyop. The high functioning end of autism is now a complete joke where anyone can get diagnosed with it if they ask for it. It's also not about the merging of autism and asperger's either, because asperger's has always been a complete joke since the 90s as well, where it's either a label hypochondriac parents put on their kids because they're not 'perfect' enough, or a label nerds used as an excuse to be a jerk.
