It’s how you make people feel while they watch what you make," really resonated with me and I feel it's especially pertinent here given how the mistaken perception of him as a (relatively) wholesome figure was the draw to a large chunk of his audience. Even people into such scenes would presumably rather just be doing those things rather than listening to some guy talk about them, or at the very least be talking to someone about it. I'd think anyone interested would want some reciprocity. Hell, even when nominally doing his namesake legal content, how do you think people feel watching you when you're clearly tuned out and disinterested, making any excuse possible to not do the content your show is literally named after? I've probably told this story before but I'll tell it again anyway as it's kind of illustrative. I had a disreputable friend. When he was out at work one day, his apartment sprung a leak and started drenching the apartment below. They had to call the police who made forcible entry. When they got in, they noticed two things. He had his electricity meter on the fiddle (some kind of by-pass arrangement so that your power use doesn't register on your meter) and he had two £10 bags of heroin on the kitchen table.

Police arrested him when he got home and he was charged with illegally abstracting electricity. They had no interest in the heroin at all. They couldn't be bothered with the paperwork. I'm not sure they even threw it away -- they might have just left it where it was.


Anyway, people get scooped up when people start complaining about
drug dealing being too open. So neighbours complaining that the street is going to shit, bar owners complaining that unsanctioned dealers are operating in their bar, etc. If you run a nice quiet delivery system, you can get away with it for years because our police are too busy arresting people who misgender troons on twitter. They've got no time to be arresting heroin and crack dealers. Just don't upset the complaining middle classes.

To make the case against the dealer, they have to scoop up a couple of customers. So while they don't really give a fuck about you -- you're just getting probation or a £200 fine or some such thing -- if you're a lawyer or a doctor or someone whose professional reputation is dependent on not having drug convictions, it can really fuck you up.

That's more or less the case for marijuana in most places. Even where they still do arrest people for possession levels, it's rarely a prosecutorial priority. Stuff like cocaine, LSD, MDMA, heroin, meth, etc. are generally treated more harshly outside of the really liberal areas where nonenforcement is the prevailing policy. This isn't really great as you end up with junkies shooting up in public, leaving needles around everywhere, passing out or even just OD'ing and dying in public, etc. I'm generally for decriminalization but wtf, some level of social decorum still needs to be enforced.

Anyway these laws are on the books and if you piss off your local cops they might just be enforced.

I stopped watching Nick around the time that the Locals streams began, but from clips and Himedall's summaries, it seems Nick now streams 3 hours or less, then does a Locals stream where he shovels ramen/bitches in his hot tub and seems to curb the booze earlier.

The drinking is definitely down, and he has not done shots for money in a long time.

He did seem to consume more volume previously, but he seemed more coherent after more liquor previously than he does now. I have no experience with alcohol tolerance's effects, but to me this says he has rotted his grey matter with *other* substances so the effect of the booze is more pronounced.

In general, users have to be turned off and motivated to get to the point of manually unsubbing, making drops of 1K subscribers over time all the more impressive.

Yes to the social inertia, but some more context on the 1k drops. SocialBlade only records changes over a certain number of subs (5k, I think?) in 1k increments.
