Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

i really wanted to see the idol group ruby was a part of progress, but they mostly get forgotten in favor of ruby specifically.
that and i forgot wut aqua's plan is but im pretty sure he's found the killer, it's just that he has a complicated plan of doing it to get around something that i forgot.

After the Music Video Arc there's a 6 month time skip and B Komachi does B Komachi things. B Komachi is less of an important part of the plot and more of a springboard for other plots.

Aqua can't be in a relationship with Kana because she's an idol and he's afraid he'll get her killed. This is because Akane figures out that Aqua is Ai's kid and uses her death to manipulate him (and also why I hate Akane).

Ruby suddenly discovers her beloved Doctor is dead and a ghost informs her that the person responsible for his death is also responsible for Ai's.

Grandpa Ichigo isn't just some useless drunk who fucked off, he's also out in the world trying to kill Ai's killer because he loved her like a daughter. When he finds out Ruby wants the same thing, he starts coaching her from the shadows on how to replicate Ai's success.

Kana isn't happy because she wants to be an actress and not an Idol and has bad things happen to her as a result. Namely a tabloid photographs her leaving a directors house in the wee hours in the morning and implies a sexual escapade. Aqua saves her by selling the story of Ai's secret children and getting them to run that instead.

Ichigo and Ruby are both pissed about this, but its okay because Akane discovered who Aqua's father was. When she tried to kill him, it was revealed Aqua had planted listening devices on a charm he'd given her and is pissed that she both knew who his father was and was going to take the fall for him. (Important note: Aqua and Akane had been dating for 6 months at this point. Aqua also believed his father had died in a murder suicide, but Akane figured out that this wasn't the case and kept it secret).

Aqua and Ichigo have decided to not just kill Aqua's dad but create a movie that destroys his reputation to the world first. Death isn't enough. They want total destruction of everything this man is. The director from the first episode is the director making the movie. The producer from the Reality Dating Show arc is producing.

We discovered the director has known for a long time that Aqua and Ruby are Ai's kids as he's apparently one of the three people she trusted enough to tell that to. He's apparently had some message she left for them when they were babies. Aqua has seen this message, he prevented Ruby from seeing it. We the audience have not seen it either.

Progress has been slow here as its pretty much ongoing. There's currently scares of an incest bait and switch from tards on Reddit. Ichigo has been reunited with based Miyako and she's demanding to know what's going on. Akane is trying to prevent Aqua from going through with his plan.

Sorry lots of spoiler shit in case there are anime only watchers in here who don't want to get blindsided.

Here's a show that I would have zero interest in in if not for this:
>Production cooperation: GAINA

I'm not really expecting this to be much other than a preview of the animation we might get in Uru in Blue and Top wo Nerae 3, if those are even still in production.

Dig the title of this one
A Tan Childhood Friend with Absolutely No NTR!

Uh...good to know?
given how hard it triggers some (chitose did some real damage), and some are looking for it to the point hoping jin isn't dead (and sometimes shit up comments like a 4chan blacked poster), being upfront about it is probably the smart choice.
or it's the most obvious trap, which would be hilarious.

I enjoy SpyXFamily. It doesn't really have a Grand Arc yet, but it's set up some minor stuff that does get payoff (WISE being in shit because a double agent/ coward leaking info and undermining them, Loid's childhood friend being a member of the SPECTRE expy that conducted experiments on Anya and Bond).

I actually like Yor being more or less being a murder machine that kinda had nothing to strive for after Yuri became a success. She's not that deep, but not every character needs to be. I like her juggernaut assassin deal where she's a legit superhuman and a stuttering autist. I feel like it's something that's seen a lot more in male characters.

Amazon JP is doing another 50% gold points campaign for a bunch of digital mangas and I'm looking forward into getting these series for a rather cheap price:

Spy x Family is great, and I enjoy Bond's chapters the most

Got bored and started Shakugan no Shana. Nice 2000s aesthetics aside, this is definitely another anime to chalk up as "Dark magical girl before Madoka Magica", yes? Pretty interesting set-up it's got in the first episode.
Shana was the anime that got me into downloading torrents rather than just watch on cable (especially as the only thing in my country was shonen and Ranma). I'd probably find it a lot more underwhelming than 15 year old me had but it was fun (at least the first two seasons) and the last season is a great conclusion.

I can't really think of it being a magical girl show. It's more standard battle couple where the protagonist isn't the brawns. It starts relatively dark in concept but not more than most shows and it devolves into the usual harem in later seasons.

I just want you guys to know that I have officially taken the Patlabor pill, and I will not look back:

Between this and Macross (and to an extent , Mazinger Z), I’ve been going through episodes of watching the old mecha based anime from the late 70’s and 80’s, and it’s done a lot to make me appreciate the genre at large.

I’ve been gearing up to watch Patlabor for months now, and coming up this weekend, I p’m excited to officially do so. Apparently, there’s 47 episodes in the original 1989 series so there’s a strong chance that I won’t be posting as much on this thread for more than a few days. Plus, between trying to finish up new anime series from last year and this year alone, I already have enough anime recommendations to last me up for the next few months.

Either way, wish me luck because I’m in for a treat. 8)

Here's some other emergency mecha anime I like. They're much more childish than Patlabor, but I enjoy them quite a bit because of their endearing, earnest characters and Transformers-like sentient robots:

There's also a similar tokusatsu show, in case you like toku:

>Rescue Force
Shit, that hit the childhood nostalgia bone. Speaking of which, if anyone just wants an underrated Toku kino, I'd recommend Ryukendo.

Discotek announced a collection of the first couple Digimon movies. It includes the original duct taped movie that was shown in American theaters years ago along with new dubs for the individual movies. And the original Japanese of course. Has a lot of the original dub cast returning.

Honestly, a title like sound like bait to entice intrigued readers to see whether or not it turns out to be one big trick. Similar to the movie "John Dies at the End".

Mecha is just such a great genre. It really was the peak of what anime used to offer on TV for almost 30+ years. Also, it's a nice filter for all the shounen-loving normies who STILL think mecha is not about the characters except (insert several shows that got memed on MAL like Code Geass, Evangelion, Gurren Lagann).
The Yuusha series, both Machine Robo shows, Eldran, Wataru and its' clones (Granzort, Knight Ramune, Ryu Knight) are all great family entertainment. Far better option to grow your children on than whatever they play on TV these days.
Patlabor is max comfy and both Noa and Kanuka are best girls.

Today I found out about a manga called “Setting Things Straight with Brats” which is…how do I describe this…you know how sometimes in fanfiction if someone hates a particular character, they’ll turn them into the butt monkey of the story and make everyone hate or mock them? Think of that, only for the “cheeky/bratty tsundere stereotype” in manga.

Every chapter is essentially little oneshots of setting up a typical trope or story beat with a tsundere, only to literally mental break them in a soul-crushing way. It’s like readying a troll comic, in some ways.

I can definitely see the appeal if you hate the archetype or whatnot, but man…the artist/artist must really despise them. That or she’s just doing it for a laugh, because some of the trauma/tragedy is so extreme it rolls back around to being hilarious.
