Good! Fuck 'em! Fuck 'em all! Writers! Actors! All the studios! Fuck these people! Double fuck them for asking me to pay for it all. Bitch I already bought tickets to your shit movies and purchased the physical copy. Get fucked, faggots. We are NOT in this together.

I'm reminded of the following story. In December of 2020 an LA restaurant owner was forced to shut down because of the supa scawey coof. You could not even do outdoor dining in the city of LA. One day Hollywood rolls in and sets up catering tents next to her restaurant so their actors and crew could sit down and eat after filming. Were they filming the then latest MCU wet fart? Were they filming something that would inspire the hearts and minds of the people of America or the world? No. They were filming a tv show called Good Girls that was cancelled a half a year later. Hollywood doesn't even bother to hide that they do not follow the rules they demand be imposed upon others, even when it involves the most deadliest disease to ever face humanity believe it.
May all of Hollywood die with and in fiery cancer AIDS. May their coffers be drained. May their cries fall on deaf ears. May they be alone and afraid. And may no one mourn them. Fuck these people.
Since residuals are a big issue…

Oh no! Lizzie's dad from Lizzie McGuire once got paid nothing in 2019 for playing Lizzie's dad from Lizzie McGuire! I suddenly support all of the writers, even the one who put their own pedo fantasies on the screen. This is a weird fucking vector for them to take, thinking I give a damn about a character on a show that went from 2001 to 2004 that isn't MXC and his one "cruel", as I've seen some outlets describe it, check. Imagine being more embarrassing than your half brother who hung himself so he could jerk off better.

There's 102 and counting "projects" that have received don't-you-dare-call-them-waivers.

Including this one, of recent vintage:

I get that not everything has to appeal to me, but, seriously, who the fuck would watch this? Also, how would she eat? And wouldn't she choke to death on her own mermaid shit after a while? I remember that much with friends who had fishtanks when I was a kid.

I'm still trying to find out if Amazon's Rings of Power and Wheel of Time shows are in production or not. My admittedly feeble efforts have unearthed nothing, one way or the other. However, we can say neither has been granted a not-a-waiver, at least per the list cited above.

Why are they making exceptions? All this will accomplish with the strikers in doing with this is showing that they can be pushed around around and be exploited for more exceptions to the strike. Effectively ruining any chance at holding the whole industry to a standstill.
From their perspective this would be worse than accepting scabs in stealing their jobs.

You've gotta understand, this guy was too buy escaping Hicksville to speak to any of the town's civil engineers before coming up with this plot. Just think of the water treatment tower as an aquarium and not a reservoir for already-filtered water. And think of the mermaid as a trapped spiritual being and not someone that's going to give the town e.coli or starve to death in the tank.
And also pretend small town tyranny wasted time getting a bucket truck or a crane to lift the mermaid over 100 feet in the air and cram her into it, because water towers are high above ground for a reason.
See what's really important is the theme of the movie, which is how the writer was always special and being in a Southern small town is being surrounded by NPCs keeping you from your potential as one of the Beautiful Ones in LA. All that other stuff is something amateur writers would worry about, getting caught in the weeds of logical consistency.
I'd say it's supposed to be about how cliquish environments, particularly in small towns where social hierarchies can be more prevalent due to the tight-knit nature, can smother out good things because they are anomalous in the native culture, but you and I both know that's not the story.
This guy isn't writing some soft-magic The Last Unicorn morality tale, he didn't take his film idea, which is getting put into production anyway, beyond "Wouldn't the whole town have to collude to keep this supernatural creature stuck in the tower? People actually use those to drink and the interiors get cleaned, typically by out-of-town crews. Would nobody prior to the abandonment of this town ever notice? Why cram a mermaid in the water tower anyway? It's not like you can keep it in an opaque metal container to ogle it. The mermaid got forgotten about anyway, so it's not a practical means of collecting the mermaid. If you wanted to kill one, though, you'd just do that. Did the mermaid spontaneously manifest in the tower? A small town would make so much money in showing off mermaid that it'd just get the mermaid taken out and have the cash to build a better tower and put the mermaid in some sort of exhibit." etc.

Because Joey from Friends was an accurate depiction of the type of people that work there.

>snow in the background
>obviously lower or near zero degrees celsius
>better wear as little as possible
while certainly a 10/10 snow white this triggers me
Eh, I've been in snow-covered environments that were surprisingly comfy in terms of temperature so it looks fine to me.

Looking forward to the new golden age of cinema where 14 year-old dweebs in their basements make edgy Snow White adaptions with big honkers.

It fits given in the original tale she was 14.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but,

The Hollywood strike might be over by tomorrow, because the studios will be firing the writters. And I feel sad yet happy at the same time. Sad, because they're are some writers that write good things, but I feel happy because hey maybe the studios will hire younger folk for writers and we will probably get another golden age of TV, streaming, and movies. As for the actors they will probably stop striking just because they strike because they want to support the writers, when really striking is not there problem, because they are richer than writers.

Is there still hope that studios collapse too?

‘The Witcher’ Scribe Javier Grillo-Marxuach Accused Of “Scabbing” Over Guild-Approved Social Publicity, Deletes Posts Not “To Admit Fault” But To Ensure Loyalties “Are Without Question”

This guy was responsible for the Netflix Cowboy Bebop so I'm amused that he got called out. Like even if you're technically allowed to tweet about your show, why would you? I've seen actors going radio silent on social media so at least pretend to care.

Very good comment on the article that sums it all up. The streaming boom is settling down and the money isn't going to be there.

Deadline says its so that actors and actresses can audition for roles. Doesn't seem like they can actually work on the production. Another article i saw said SAG-AFTRA is okaying work on indie movies because they're getting the production companies to fork over 2% of streaming revenue.

Oh the studio is going to wait until you start losing housing and stuff?
NO SHIT. That's the risk you take going on strike. That's what the union dues and stuff are supposed to be for. Strikes are supposed to be a big deal so people are willing to listen to you, if you abuse them, then people take your strike less seriously.

Not to PL but it's not that bad. Hell, if those were large naturals she might actually be pretty comfy so long as there isn't any wind.

I have a theory as to why there are an over saturation of uninspired, unoriginal, writer/directors/and entertainers in Hollywood. It starts with us, the consumer us. There was a time when original movies made bank, however, I argue after the success of The Ring, an American remake of Ringu, was the domino to fall first. How many Japanese movies were remade for the American market? So many that I don't think I could name them all if you asked. Then we have based on true events, which the premise is pretty much set in stone you just need to write a script; this offers a little bit of creative leeway and may even require it. Then you have your based on Novel movies while the original stories and scripts further slid into obscurity and lacked the draw.

Studios thus hired mindless writers, glorified scribes, who could pump out remakes, shoddy "based on true events/history" scripts, and other various forms of derivative material while actively filtering out and probably disenfranchising actually talented writers. We've seen what these writers do when unleashed with unrestrained creativity; it's all bullshit that a college student or a high school student would care about. Because these people lack any actual lived experience, only the experience of a sealed terrarium that is a college or union.
