It is hard to believe that a straight man can be involved in an art form that is not simply a part of gay culture, but at the bedrock of gay culture, and not be/become affected by it. You even state that you "never met a normal man who liked RuPaul's Drag Race" (because they likely don't exist), so what kind of "normal" man would then be interested in pursuing drag (let alone in earnest enough to qualify to compete on that show)? No better example of this than Walter "Darcelle" Cole, a heterosexual (or at least closeted), ex-military, married man with children before eventually coming out and settling with a man in his twilight years. Now, I will admit to not having the more progressive sensibilities of those who can actually realize this as a concept, but I'm sure even those on the left would see them as sus.
