Are men or women more likely to experiment with homosexuality?

Is there actually anything to the "women are more sexually flexible" theory? Or are men just tighter lipped about their time in prison?

I remember this theory going out that women are either bisexual or lesbian, but never exclusively straight.
The study, led by Dr Gerulf Rieger from the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex, involved 345 women whose responses to being shown videos of naked men and women were analysed.

The results, which were based on elements such as whether their pupils dilated in response to sexual stimuli, showed that 82% of the women tested were aroused by both sexes.

Meanwhile of the women who identified as straight, 74% were strongly sexually aroused by videos of both attractive men and attractive women.
This was in contrast to lesbians, who showed much stronger sexual responses to women than to men.

The researchers said lesbians were the most like men in their responses because it is usually men who show distinct sexual responses to their favourite sex.

Dr Rieger said: "Even though the majority of women identify as straight, our research clearly demonstrates that when it comes to what turns them on, they are either bisexual or gay, but never straight."

Dr Rieger also said his study showed that lesbians who may dress in a more masculine way may not have more masculine behaviours.

"Although some lesbians were more masculine in their sexual arousal, and others were more masculine in their behaviours, there was no indication that these were the same women," he said.

"This shows us that how women appear in public does not mean that we know anything about their sexual role preferences."

I think women are more likely to experiment. I know tons of women who at least kissed other girls. To be honest I think most ladies my age I know have.

Women are closer to each other, less judgemental and more open to explore new experiences. I also have the unpopular opinion that they are more sexual than men and often happy to alleviate the tension with each other if no male partner is available.

To be honest though this might have changed. Nowadays it's super trendy and socially acceptable for men to engage men so I think the homo train is catching up.

Men are bigger bitches about it. Like seriously they such ONE dick and they go full on existential crisis mode.

In all seriousness, a lot of it probably has to do with female homosexuality being cast in a relatively more positive light than male homosexuality.

Yeah even if a girl isn't attracted to other women she'll definitively score points for being sexy and wild and daring by kissing a friend so why not go for it. Men are becoming the same fast too.

It's bullshit in both cases. If you're attracted by or in love with another human being then by all means go for it! I have a feeling though that for many people it's primarily a desperate call for attention and the sole foundation of a fake sense of identity, which is beyond pitiful. How gullible the people who buy into the mindset that you need to stand out and be outrageous to be noteworthy- a really simpleton belief for infantile people.

Eh its going to be a while before casual male homoeroticism becomes acceptable as casual female homoeroticism.

It's definitely more socially acceptable for women, but a quick look at the murkier side of the internet will tell you there are plenty of ostensibly straight dudes looking to experiment, even if it's just watching porn with another dude and maybe spanking the monkey in the same room together.

Lol powerlevel time but I had a guy tell me "this isn't a gay thing" when he had my dick in his mouth I'm like sure man if you say so, but your words are muffled by cock so, I dunno if I can get on board with your theories.

Women are ... less judgemental

What are you smoking?

In all seriousness I know what you mean. Male homosexuality is all mixed up with received notions of masculinity, and dudes don't want to be seen to be sissies so they won't talk about it even to their friends.

I've met a shitton of women who've told me they've done stuff with women. An amount that dwarfs the actual lesbians I know and especially men who say the same thing.

I think as a culture we're just a lot less accepting of male homosexuality. So maybe the numbers really aren't that far off and guys do that kind of shit all the time, but they won't admit. That or they've considered it and won't admit it. Hell, I kinda know they do, it takes like 10 seconds on the internet to figure that out.

In my part of the world it's definitely getting close to being the same. You can't go out in the street on weekends without seeing dudes holding hands and such, while you only see ladies holding hands maybe 10% of the time (though I did see some lesbian tongue kissing not long ago on the subway, nice).

Our opinions as a forum will always diverge: if you're from Saudi Arabia or Japan you'll hardly see either sex being homo, if at all. Here though it's certainly on equal grounding on the last 5 years or so, while before that you'd hardly ever see males kissing or holding hands in public.

Seems that you guys are right about women being more judgmental. My own experience with women though is that they'll just do whatever they want at the time and not worry about consequences until later on, I've seen it time and again. Maybe they make 'em crazier over here.

-More women have had homosexual encounters than men
-Less women identify as homosexual than men

I think it's purely physiological: lesbianism is like digging for buried treasure without a shovel

Haha no way, the college-age women I know over there are super homo. It looks like men are starting to be more open too, but face a lot more "ew gross" reactions, a bit like in the West.
