Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Titanfall 2's campaign was mediocre as fuck and I'm sick of hearing about it being described like it's taking a sip from the fucking holy grail. When it's very brief and everything feels rushed with no real meat to the story even compared to Call of Duty 4 MW, the game the devs made before Titanfall. Also requires a constant internet connection to play the campaign. Respawn's decision in the sequel. Not EA's.

Titanfall was always overrated dogshit and frontier defense was the only redeeming mode the franchise had.
Titanfall was basically Call of Duty with mechs. Twitch shooter with wall running and boost strafing. It'll admit it handled three directional movement better than Call of Duty.

I wish EA/Respawn cared enough about Titanfall to provide better security.

Apex Legends Mobile was a great mobile adaption of Apex Legends. Titanfall 2 does open world environments better than Halo.

Slings, javelins (as throwing spears), and chariots are all interesting weapons/weapon platforms - maybe even moreso than swords and bows - that should have way more attention in games than they get. Aside from strategy games, the only ones I can think of seeing where those are used much are Far Cry: Primal and Apotheon.

I'm giving you a Winner because I saw The Last Stand's quote of you and I started to froth with rage. (You must have changed your post, though.) And then I remembered, as I was about the slam the Dislike button, that it's those posts which are supposed to be unpopular.

I will agree that the campaign is meh. Gameplay wise it's pretty good, but story-wise I don't think Titanfall's world had anything going for it. The robot is well written, but the idea is nothing anybody hasn't seen before. The muh corporations plot is boring. I'd have rather had more total warfare, like COD, actually. I think people sucked it off just because it had a story at all compared to Titanfall 1. But Titanfall 2's multiplayer was god-tier.

Not only that, but it had more to offer in general. The way it merged two completely different playstyles (twitchy 3D fighting with a more slow-paced, hero-like robot gameplay) and the way it used its bots to build up scale made every match of Titanfall feel epic in scope (despite being a 6v6), strategic (though it wasn't), and diverse. There's nothing else like it. Even with Northstar it's not that good anymore, though, because there's few people playing that and they're top-tier players.

The appeal of Titanfall 2's campaign is in its writing and organic world building with the titans. Of course, this is subjective.

The titans vs. pilots gameplay is balanced. You'd expect that the titans would immediately overpower the pilots because they're hulking mechs. That could not be further from the truth. Pilots could wall ride and flank titans. Actually fighting titans feels like a boss battle.

The writing was awful whenever BT wasn't speaking and the deliveries all sounded like they were late for their other IRL voice acting gigs. ? Except for BT and Carver. The Bad guys just gave up and started Apex Legends after doing some autistic business card exchange on BT's hull.

The Militia were steadily pushing the IMC back and winning after the first game. Wtf was this "we can't send another ship" bullshit even after you disabled the orbital defenses?

The reason Call of Duty has been so much more popular than every other FPS for so many years is nothing else has really been as good. There have been good ideas here and there, but nothing with front-to-back execution on par with CoD.
I don't know why Killzone didn't catch on more. The first one sucked but 2, 3, and Mercenary were really good. Not sure about the PS4 one though.

More like because CoD is very generic and easy to get into. Very much a "Normie" game series. Halo's a far superior game anyhow overall, so's Battlefield.

CAPS LOCK DOOM 2016
I uprated your post just for this. I find it obnoxious to capitalize it. It’s hard not to look like a shill when doing it.

Killzone was exclusive to the PlayStation and Halo was on Xbox. Call of Duty was not a platform exclusive. I’m sure all the Halo games got ported to the pee cee but people primarily think of it as an Xbox series.

Killzone stopped after the fourth one because the PlayStation is just not as known as an FPS platform of choice. I think Killzone 2 and 3 really tried to be a Halo killer and Soyny decided it wasn’t worth continually trying to beat out Halo, which was losing its relevance with each entry and games like Call of Duty.

A similar lesson learned is Forza versus Gran Turismo aka Gran Snorismo. Forza started off weak but eventually lapped Gran Turismo. So Microsoft won but simulation racers aren’t as relevant in 2023 compared to how much hype Gran Turismo got in 2003. So what’s the value of a Halo or Gran Turismo killer? Not much.

Killzone 2 was sublime, but it had issues, not the least of which is that there just weren't as many cool toys as COD, and games could get really frustrating if you were spawntrapped. Plus, matches just took a long time. Killzone 3 was outright bad. The maps were bad, and the unlock system was everything bad about pro perks, and then some.

Battlefield tends to lack in execution, and there's also the fundamental issue that matches take a long time, there aren't really a lot of game types to cater to different tastes, and individuals can't have much impact.

Doom Eternal's platforming sections are excellent breaks between combat, and only faggots whine about them.
I'll say this, they're a hell (heh) of a lot less obnoxious than other first person platformers. It's pretty easy to make sure you end up where you're trying to go.

I Honestly didnt find it frustrating.
Speaking of why do people seem to praise the plot of wolfenstein TNO as somekind of masterpiece from what ive played of wolfenstein TNC The story seems retarded so is it the same in TNO

There's a level where you bust out a concentration camp guns blazing. What could you possibly have to complain about?

Tried playing Darkest Dungeon again and the game is so bad.

The game is all about grinding and making little to no progress. Imagine Xcom, but 9 out of 10 missions you have to play is with level 0 rookies and 3 out of 4 die and you make minimal progress.

The stress mechanic is just an extra healthbar you can't heal, and once it drops to half you get someting like confusion, from Pokemon. Remember how fun that was, when your pokemon skipped turns and hurt themselves? Now every enemy can inflict that!
