Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

It's like he tried to copy Dankpods but forgot to do literally everything that makes Dankpods fun and interesting.
Mate, I think I know what he's doing wrong:

He ain't got his personality, he ain't got his sense of humor, he ain't got nothin' that this man has which is the whole reason people watch DankPods roight

I mean, the very fact that Wade released all the After Shows for free AND refunded all his Patreon supporters even if they only gave that one dollary-doo a month after he decided it was too much just goes to show that he's everything that Linus wishes he was, but instead Linus is a stingy greedy fuck that only cares about making money and nothing else. Wade is just a village boy that made it big and is enjoying what he's doing.

Linus keeps devolving into a reaction channel. Aka his own side channel ShortCircuit.
This has been done by a bunch of other semi-popular YouTube channels as well. He is just out of ideas or couldn't find some random hardware locally on eBay to create another disaster of a 85949408 gazillion TB's of data on cheap shitty hard drives.

Wendell's made a video about Linus' convention. He extols its virtues, but the video clips speak for themselves. Looks like a pretty dismal convention to me, but maybe I've just been spoiled from attending exciting engineering conventions full of middle aged middle managers who wanted a vacation while their engineers got to stay home working.

Welp, looks like I'll be turning off YT notifications for a while. At least until all the LTX2023 shite has passed. Every man and their dog in the tech scene has apparently made a video about how great it was. No shit, it's like they all went to some megachurch and came out converted.

Looking at Wendell's video it looks so sparse, and you basically go from one area with computers to another area with computers. There's no variety and everyone looks the same with blue and purple lighting, the only thing that stood out was the red Tesla banner and car. I'm actually surprised for as much talk of their in-house artists like Sarah, they didn't have her design some simple banner and wall art that D-brand could then print and hang up to make the place less....sad.

Linus fucked up when he virtue signalled by saying that he would not be firing the events dude even during covid. The guy is clearly not able to organise events the way they should be. I cannot say if he is incompetent, the competing opinions from others/managers forcing him to do things he knows are wrong, or what. However, three years later and he still struggles to organise a great event.

Why not hire an event planner by contract, for LTX?does LTT really need a full time event planner? We all know the answer THEY NEED TWO! One is not enough!

The real question is why does he even need LTX, is it a huge tax scam?
It's much simpler than that. Linus just wants to be worshipped, and he has thousands of dickriders willing to congregate in the one place. Muslims have Mecca, Catholics have the Vatican and autistic zoomers have LTX.

He aged really poorly.
At least now the ugliness on the outside matches the ugliness on the inside.
I'm a bit surprised by that image because he looks so much thinner there. I don't remember him ever looking like that while on LTT. I recall him looking pretty overweight shortly after he first started appearing in too many videos, then got even fatter and more recently he seemed to have lost some.

Being fat can keep some people looking young or age you like milk. Coin flip.

When you have business relationships with huge technology vendors the way LTT does, you can practically print money by hosting a convention and charging them for the privilege of attending to market to peak consumers. Remember, 'Event Sponsor' is code for "Paid the biggest premium to the organizers".

He didn’t actually get any of the interesting sponsors there though. I guess gayming “laptops” are cool to his audience, but any tech nerd worth their salt knows what rubbish they really are. Where’s Apple? Where’s Kioxia? Where’s AMD? Where’s Dell and HPE and Supermicro? He couldn’t even get ThermalGrizzly, and chances are DerBauer would need no more sponsoring than free admittance and a booth given a chance to show up and peddle paste to the ideal target audience.
I suppose he got Tesla? I know they don’t have that shit a reputation with western normies, but anyone who’s ever driven a car in that price class knows that Teslas are garbage, if I were Linus I’d be ashamed to peddle their products. He’s letting them inside it? Surely even poors will recognise the poor build quality when the fancy electric sports car has an inferior interior to their own 2014 Volvo Universal?

Your entirely correct that any serious tech enthusiast would have no interest in this.

His audience are not serious tech enthusiasts. They are bottom barrel consoomers, the people with six figure incomes who can't manage their finances if their life depended on it. The kinds of people who make hardware purchasing decisions based on price tag, higher must be better. The kind of people who impulsively buy the newest shiny thing even if their old stuff works just fine, because they derive most of the joy in their life from the act of consooming, where showing off their rig upgrades gets them fifteen likes on twitter to stroke their ego and validate their actions. When they are unsure of which most expensive thing to go for, they watch people like LTT and see what expensive decisions they make, and just follow that. These are the kinds of people who spend $2,000 on a prebuilt micro-ATX build loaded with industry grade drives and 1TB/S networking to host a plex server for 35gb of movies they pirated (probably pre-remaster star wars because movie guy says its better) which they then ignore in favor of their streaming+ subscription anyway, while telling people at work how quirky their home technology setup is.

That's exactly the audience his sponsors want to reach. Informed consumers are not the bread and butter of 'premium' bullshit.
