It's possible that the Sonichu demon can only change hosts in parking lots. Ralph was possessed by the demon while filming Chris' arrest in the motel parking lot. You can see the most likely moment the transfer occurred:

It's a disturbing thought alright. The 'chu type demons are Jester clown demons but they can be dangerous, Bundychu was responsible for a series of slayings in the '70's and 80's.
