Jerome, 2022

‘It’s 2022. Not only women can get pregnant, men can get pregnant, too,’ says Jerome. ‘Visibility plays a crucial role in empowering transgender youth who may be questioning their identities. As a seahorse dad myself I can demonstrate that it is possible to embrace one’s gender identity and still fulfil the dream of becoming a parent.’

Alex & Jerome, Seahorse Parents, 2022

‘I feel like far too often projects involving queer and trans people revolve around trauma,’ says Alex. ‘This project is all about celebrating and embracing our transness, our bodies, and our babies. In addition, participating in this with another pregnant transmasculine person was the most affirming experience I’ve ever had. Men can give birth’

Alex, 2022

Alex: ‘Visibility and representation create a sense of community and belonging. When you don’t see yourself in the world it’s hard to feel like you belong. In terms of birthing as a transgender person, representation looks like using inclusive language and having access to safe resources. Recognising that not all birthing people are moms and using the correct descriptors’

Alex, 2022

Alex: ‘I think Seahorse Parents is about showcasing the differences that exist among birthing people. It’s about acknowledging that those differences aren’t inherently bad, but, rather, beautiful. Seahorse Parents shows that all parents deserve to create families in whatever ways feel right to them’

The series showcases these heavily pregnant transgender parents under water, using the metaphor of the seahorse, for which the males are the baby carriers. Guttmann’s main objective for the project is to normalise and celebrate pregnant transgender people. The project seeks to challenge prevailing cultural ideas of femininity and masculinity. What is a pregnant body ‘supposed’ to look like? And what world do the parents hope to bring their children into? You can view a trailer for the project’s film here

Liam, 2022

‘In the United States right now, new legislation is being introduced that makes it harder and harder for us to claim our spot at the table every day,’ says Liam. ‘It is important that we are visible and represented so that all of us know that we are here, we have always been here, and will always be here. This is how we help each other to stay strong in the wake of legislative, physical and emotional violence’

Liam, 2022

Liam: ‘I want the viewer to see that trans and non-binary people are actually just people, and that we have the same desire to grow and love our families as cisgender people do. Seahorse Parents is about putting our stories out into the world. It shows our budding families in the most beautiful light’

Liam, 2022

Liam: ‘Body parts do not define what your gender is. My body is just capable of things that cisgender men aren’t capable of. That’s all. I mean, really, that’s all it comes down to. I do not feel in any way that I’ve detransitioned or gone back to being a woman or anything like that’

Ruben and child, 2022

‘I want the viewer to understand how proud we are of our bodies and how incredible it is that we can carry our children by ourselves,’ says Ruben. ‘I hope that Seahorse Parents can contribute to viewers broadening their horizons and loosen up their perspectives’

Ruben, 2022

Ruben: ‘Visibility and representation are important to feel safe and recognised. When you’re pregnant, you carry a child for which you feel pride and protection, but as a visibly pregnant, transgender man, you’re not always safe.’ Seahorse Parents is part of Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023. These kids are so fucked. Not only they will be born biological freaks due to the parents wacky hormones, but they will be raised by these retards.

Unfortunately, I don't think they will make it brah.

... all parents deserve to create families in whatever ways feel right to them
It's all about the feelz. Of the parents, mind you! That's not a real human baby in that belly. It's a Seahorse Dad affirmation prop. An accessory. Just another blank slate Meat Lego that has no inherent qualities or needs.

And those gender special parents are not be impeded in their desire to inflict an unnatural and bat shit crazy parental figure on an unborn child who has had no say whatsoever in who gestates, births or raises them.

Humanity's future is so tremendously fucked if we keep permitting this nonsense. Fetal rights need to be defined, determined and protected.

We're about 50 or so years late in this regard.

Did we really need a sequel to thalidomide babies?
Thalidomide was given in an attempt to help ease extreme morning sickness. It wasn't something women just took to "validate" a made up identity to make themselves feel special. The unintended consequences of thalidomide were unfortunate because it was prescribed with good intentions.

I consider "seahorse" dads to be a degree of evil because there's no thought given to the child that they are carrying.

I meant purely as a sequel to having a slice of the population that's born with defects that could've been avoided.

I'm not comparing the two. A person would have to be an unimaginably low-IQ retard to think anything really compares to this sick shit morally. The people doing this should be [FEDPOSTING REDACTED].

I feel bad for the kids to be born to these twisted 'mothers'. Once the whole troon fad dies screaming and it becomes mega-unpopular, (as it is slowly but surely happening), some of these moms are gonna double-down. Others are gonna try to reclaim the feminity they sacrificed for their 15 minutes of fame.

But the result is going to be the same for these kids. They'll be born to a broken parent and they have to deal with their peers who will undoubtedly pick up on the fact that their parent is a mutilated troon. If they're lucky, it will be an awkward conversation at best. However, there is also the fact that they'll be made fun of mercilessly for having a troon parent.

If I (a man) was pregnant, the last thing I'd do for a photoshoot is some underwater mermaid bullshit.

Nah, if I had to have a photoshoot I'd be holding big guns or some shit with a shirt that says "shooting for two" or some equally masculine badassery.

Only women would want some still life, underwater, sensible, pretty picture, much like these "dads"

Now that my attempt at being comedic is over - I gotta conclude that some FtMs are just attention seekers, especially the ones who get pregnant while LARPing as a manlet. Because let's be real - getting pregnant is not a man thing, it never has been. In theory it would cause unbearable gender dysphoria since it's not following the rigid gender roles of the LARPed as sex trannies love to pretend to follow.

Amazing. Pooners doing the one thing that will always identify them as a women, by getting pregnant, then want to be taken seriously as a man.
The funniest thing is that the nude pictures emphasize how feminine their bodies are. No dicks, female fat distribution, female ass... you never look more like your biological sex than when you're naked.

Boobs aren't the only difference between men and women.

If these women (and they ARE women) were on the T before conception, as I presume they were, does that mess with the fetus in any way? Just curious. Also, and horrifyingly, do they keep taking it after conception?

Weird how visceral and complete my repulsion and revulsion at seeing this is.

Wouldn't the act of carrying a child to term and giving birth be like, totally dysphoric dood? I thought the goal was to avoid things like that.

Mental hospitals must be like ghost towns at this point, or full of people who think there's only two genders.

I'm not even sure if there are any left. The swing back ~100 years ago against the horror that was the old ones, was so complete that most places don't have anyplace to send nuts who don't meet the level of criminally insane. (i.e. insane and commit a serious crime)
