Blech, this looks like shit. Did they not have enough time to bother trying to integrate everyone into the TTG style? The Hanna-Barbera characters look especially terrible here, look at the fucking Flintstones.

Anyways, I don't understand WB's newfound crossover fetish. It's like one of the execs saw Endgame a single time and decided it was such a work of art that every single thing he touched from then on needed to replicate it somehow. Multiversus, Space Jam 2, Scooby Doo (for several decades now, to be fair), now TTG- is this like some weird cry for help? I know the company's finances have been in ruins for a while now so maybe this is the final plea for profit before the ship finally sinks.

They want to be Disney where the company itself is a brand. Pretty much all of Disney's works from Pirates, to Pixar, to to their animation have been seamless in crossing over before. I think it is also because they have aquired full ownership of companies or at least liquadated them into the Warner machine so they are no longer individual entities. CN, for example, seemed to operate independently of Warner for years and never really had that many clashes til the late 2010s.

Multiversus, Space Jam 2, Scooby Doo (for several decades now, to be fair), now TTG
LEGO Movie and LEGO Dimensions were ground zero.

WB's newfound crossover fetish
Blame Disney. It arguably started with their film wreck it Ralph that kicked off the cross over craze. Then lego movie showed it could be profitable. Then along came Ralph 2 which was basically Disney showing off how big their corporate dick is with that "oh my disney" scene that showed everything they owned from marvels capeshit to star wars to their own cartoons.

Warners being trying to measure up with their own crossovers for years, really that's what crossovers have become. One big corporate America dick measuring contest.

Wreck It Ralph didn't make nearly enough impact to be the cause of this crossover shit- it wasn't the best-performing movie (by Disney standards at least) and its crossover aspects were extremely minimal at best. The most extreme it got was having Tapper and Q-Bert be semi-relevant; most of the movie was focused around OC. The crossovers were definitely kicked off by the first Avengers movie (infinitely more popular, came out the same year a little earlier, probably the main reason why so much of the crossover shit is superhero-oriented), and their burst into current popularity probably due to Endgame and Infinity War.

LEGO Movie was also arguably not crossover-focused, though I will definitely admit it is far more crossover-like than WiR. You can definitely feel some of that corporate flexing in that Colosseum scene (where Emmet is announced as The Special), for instance, and Batman is a major character. Again, though, it's mostly OC.
Until the sequels, but that's not what's being discussed here...

Ralph 2 is an atrocity but yeah you're right. :(
That abomination was pretty much only made for the Oh My Disney! scene, nothing else about it is very good. The fucking Disney Princesses show up to save the day at the end, it's embarrassing.

(Sorry if I come off as mad or something, I'm hungry and seeing someone blame Wreck it Ralph for anything bad kind of annoyed me since I love that film and it never gets talked about lol. No hard feelings)

I've recently finished the Siegfried comic and in the back of volume extras there's a lot of interesting stuff about their approach to their animated movie(which will never come out considering this comic ended 2017). I highly suggest picking up the books(its only three volumes) and reading the comic because it's absolutely byootiful(and because the extras are like 120 pages across all three volumes) but I'll post some of their stills of the assumed dead movie.

Am totally not posting this in the hopes that someone who knows more about this can give me hope or closure that the movie is actually still alive/dead.

On an unrelated note, would anyone know of the french animated movie Mars Express and where if anywhere I could watch it english subbed? I've heard it's by the same studio as Lastman which I've really enjoyed.
Is this the story of Siegfried and Brunhilde? The stuff about the immortal dragon and the German Achilles? That's one of those I wanted to see a 90s Disney animated adaptation of ever since I saw die nibelungen Siegfried.

That's the one. The comic is by Alex Alice and it's a kind of quick but very beautiful retelling of Siegfried's part of nibelungen, and looking around there was actually a remastered trailer for the assumed dead movie.

This and Faust would make really good Disney 2d animated films, if they were made in the 90s with full budgets, they would've been on par with if not better than the prince of Egypt.

Once you get down to it a lot of comics would make excellent animations but it's currently a matter of skill and direction. If it's remotely adult(as in actually mature) I guarentee you Seth Rogen and his ilk would get their hands on it and make it an "adult"(as in sex and crass humor) cheap cashgrab by Amazon, Netflix or something.
Part of me really wants to see a Blacksad animation but I'd gladly sacrifice that if I don't have to see furries sully it.

Oh I didn't mean the comic per se, I meant fritz langs 1924 film dilogy die nibelungen Siegfried parts I II and fw murnaus film Faust from 1927, like how the prince of Egypt was the animated adaptation of the ten commandments from 1955, beauty and the beast adapted a 1949 french film by jean cocteau and Aladdin was the animated adaptation of the thief of Baghdad from 1940. Blacksad the movie will be ruined by furries and the lackadaisy fanbase if it were to come out. If you think about it a lot of what we treasure as artistic animation in the western world, especially when it comes to movies, are recycled classical literature which have had countless adaptations but feel great cause of excellent talent and timeless source material.

Agreed, but I get the feeling the window for that has passed and the interest for classic literature would be miniscule unless it's a "retelling".
It's an older anime that I actually enjoyed(with one element I'm not getting into as to avoid getting MATI) but Gankutsuou was a retelling of Monte Cristo in the sense that it was set in the far future with everyone being dressed in insanely lavish Hunger Game-esque clothing, aliens, the moon being a resort for the rich and powerful, the prison being some space hulk way out in the fringes of space and the final duel between the Count and Mondego involving giant mecha suits.
My point being I worry every recent take at an old classic has to take creative liberties of that magnitude to be made in the current era.

in 10 years the kids who watched this will be 20 and consider this show nostalgic like spongebob. take in this information however you will
I don't know, do you think kids in 10 years will consider modern episodes of SpongeBob nostalgic? They're basically the same thing right now, hyperactive flashing bullshit.

That was a GOOD cross over that knew to tell a story while involving beloved cartoon characters, not...
"THESE ARE THINGS THAT I KNOW" key-jingling for the modern "animation enthusiast" who thinks beanmouth shows are OK and act like it's a crime to not praise the latest sludge from Disney/Pixar.
Exactly, thank you commander.
