I've heard about them, but am more inclined to believe that Sneaky Pete has gotten Chance to believe that he's getting him a new lawyer. I really didn't think it was possible for a troll to actually get the listed attorney of record changed to someone that has not passed the state bar, but then John Chrichton's Leather pants started listing cases that he knew off the to of his head where people that hadn't passed the state bar were listed and had gone without being caught until they got into the court room.

I'm sure the few cases he mentioned aren't the only times this has happened either.

What do you think is really more likely? Very true, lots of people do represent themselves for something as minor like a speeding ticket. But these are assault charges and you're possibly looking at jail time, not just a $200 fine for going 60 in a 45.

That's exactly the kind of thing I mean and I have done that multiple times. Something like half the time the cop doesn't show and you just automatically win. And the other half (at least in certain states) you can plead it to something with a bigger fine but no points on your insurance, saving you money in the long run. I always found that one amusing, it is as close as you get to the law literally asking for a bribe as you get in a first world country.

my understanding is, someone that isn't a lawyer can't waltz in and file a motion with the court on a whim. so, in my mind, they've got a new legit lawyer.

depending on payment arrangements this isn't always the case. while a lot of personal injury lawyers have this as a selling point, most attorneys get paid if they win or lose.

I think the losing part is big.

Even if you make the argument that Chance has been harassed, you have to account for the fact that he still antagonizes people who dislike him.

For example, CVG started his crusade because Chance struck his channels down. CVG was faceless, voiceless, and was simply a channel that broadcast 24/7 live streams of Chance's streams, or streams with Chance in them. Those streams had hardly 10-20 viewers at a time, and didn't use his real name in the title. They weren't going to impact Chance, but he got mad that CVG had the stream.

It's fucking childish, but Chance started it. And now, he's one of Chance's mortal enemies. CVG didn't pick that fight. He didn't initiate it, or contact Chance before that. Chance contacted him.

Oh wow, that's a really good point.

It's really sad if this is what happened... Sally might have had good credit, maybe a little bit of savings, maybe some rapport with someone who helped fund this. And this is effectively worse than burning money.
