It's actual good news.TBH this is one of my favorite happenings this year. Every time I look at this thread, I smile. "Fuck These People" is perhaps the ideal tagline.

Intriguing.
tl;dr, Hollywood does everything they can to keep the original writer of an adaptive work out of the writers room and away from the set except for photo-op publicity shots. Part of it is practical, there are already enough unwarrented massive egos between writers, directors and actors they don't need a writer who doesn't understand the medium introducing MORE conflict. But mostly its just so they can rape the work to death with DEI while they fully miss (or complete 180) the themes.I'm really crossing my fingers that Andrzej does the right thing and writes an opus that just shits all over the show writers. I'm really curious as to why he wasn't in the writer's room to begin with. Such potential lost. Not every time you get a show where the lead actor is a legitimate fan of the original stories. They were handed the biggest silver platter and they decided to smear it with shit. Amazing.
Sort of. They don't even care about nepotism in the writers room. They want obedience first and output second. (Which is why the writers room is such a hotbed of nepotism; Well connected and got a worthless relative? Stick 'em in a writers room, and if they don't get in line, the studios can squeeze the connected relative.)I believe it. I mean, ten years ago I would have been happy to have one script at least looked at. But then I realized, Hollywood doesn't care about anything but nepotism. All of these writers now are probably running in the same echo chamber circles and getting access to shows/movies they probably have no business touching. Am I far off in my suspicions?
lol. I cannot tell if you are serious posting or not.So here is a story about how Disney intends to handle the writer strike:
TL;DW for the writer's strike discussion:
The rumor is Bob Iger will use the strikes as an excuse to clean put Kathleen Kennedy's diversity hires from Disney.
I also realized recently that there is such a huge backlog of movies that I haven’t seen or could watch again that I probably never will go to the movies ever again. Hot anime girls have been crying to me to go see Oppenheimer because ‘it’s so good!’ and I’m just like ‘No.’ Who wants to spend $40 to sit in a dark room for three hours?I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this here, but I don't care if they ever start working again.
I don't have any need for Hollywood or the crap they produce anymore. I have the Internet, I'm fluent in more than one language, and I can handle subtitles just fine. I have the entire damn world to choose from. I could spend the rest of my life watching nothing but old luchador movies and anime from the 90s and I'd be just fine. What do I care if Black Lesbian Show #94780 isn't getting any more episodes? I just learned about Neo Ranga!
Even if this weren't the case, I'm not forgiving the vermin in the American entertainment complex for what they've done. I'm not going to forgive them for turning into a leftist propaganda mill. I'm not going to forgive them for glamorizing liberal bigotry and outright deifying black racism. I'm not going to forgive them for the violent, hateful temper tantrum they threw over Trump. I'm not going to forgive them for how much fun they had watching the rest of us suffer through the riots and lockdowns of 2020. I'm not going to forgive them for how they helped take everything ugly, wrong, and evil in the world, and force us to treat is as the new normal and the new good. To Hell with all of them!
I've been watching Chinese historical dramas and honestly it's like I just let a huge weight off my shoulder. I know there's ZERO chance that some nigger with a manchu dreadlock queue will walk in at some point with his eyes taped up like Mickey Rooney 'uh bing chong ching chong muh dick'. Zero chance. In all the shows I watched there was ONE white dude (Lang Shining, so historically accurate), and you know what? I could still relate to the characters - even though they were all Chinese, because the stories were compelling (if sometimes a little bit campy). Downside was that I couldn't tell any of these bitches apart at first but eventually I got the hang of it. It's just so insane that we can't have a single historically accurate, mature historical drama set in the West any more, the only place I can watch a period piece that doesn't make my eyes roll out of my head is fucking China, a country that launched a brutal inquisition against its own historical culture within living memory.I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this here, but I don't care if they ever start working again.

The last time I went to a basic bitch movie theater the PREVIEWS didn't start until 30 minutes after the scheduled time, I spent half an hour eating half my popcorn while watching the same fucking car commercial three times and a bunch of internal ads for concessions, before watching previews that didn't interest me at all. Never again, I'm either going to one of those expensive movie theaters where you can get drunk or not at all.I also realized recently that there is such a huge backlog of movies that I haven’t seen or could watch again that I probably never will go to the movies ever again. Its cringe with a good soulIt's Cringe but it isn't incorrect.
When the topic of the strikes was brought up, Porter shared that he’s having to take cost-saving measure as various projects he was set to work on in September have been tabled.
The local radio's national news recently reported something similar in that many strikers are starting to feel the financial consequences of being on strike for an extended time and they're bouncing and squeaking over it.The fact that a drag queen still manages to curse out Bob Iger while losing his home in the process is just proof that this strike is only about being loud and virtue signaling, while not having your real priorities straightened out.
The last time I went to see a move at a theater, both the snack bar plugs and the ads were more annoying than most of the ads that permeate YouTube without an ad blocker. Sad part is that despite showing multiple coming attractions, these films seem to share the same basic cookie cutter plot and casting -- so much so that the cliche "you've seen one, you've seen 'em all" is true here.I spent half an hour eating half my popcorn while watching the same fucking car commercial three times and a bunch of internal ads for concessions, before watching previews that didn't interest me at all.
That's assuming Idolmaster doesn't resurrect Miura first.By this logic we need Netflix to Adapt Berserk..so it raises the Dead and we get an ending.
Now this is true trickle-down economics here.A youtuber has made a video tour of the inventory of a LA prop rental company that rents old tech (TVs, computers, radios, ...) to movie productions. In it they discuss how the writers guild strike has not only shut down movie productions but also had a trickle down effect on all the local busineses supporting it (like their own, and catering, hotels, laudry cleaning, ...) which are losing business.
IMO they'll just have to adapt or go out of business. If their only way to survive is by bring fed by Hollywood, they are an unfortunate collateral, but the beast must be slain.
Don't worry we're in the initial stages of doing the same.China, a country that launched a brutal inquisition against its own historical culture within living memory.
"Extended time"?! I thought it is barely 100 days? These shitters don't even have four month's worth of savings? The local radio's national news recently reported something similar in that many strikers are starting to feel the financial consequences of being on strike for an extended time
They can't even plan out story lines. You think they can plan out finances?"Extended time"?! I thought it is barely 100 days? These shitters don't even have four month's worth of savings?
Texas is trying to be California? What has this world come to?Texas is trying to make itself Hollywood
Yes. I can watch one great movie a night made before 2012, on the nights when we aren't watching Alone, or going to the park, or going out to dinner, or playing a board game, or just sitting next to each other reading, or when my girl just needs to watch bong retards debase themselves on Love Island and I sit next to her playing factorio, or we spend the night with friends and i could die age 100 never ever seeing another movie made by these degenerates.I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this here, but I don't care if they ever start working again.

Austin is a big tech city. And it's weird, a thing that recent college grads love. Also, the cost of living isn't as steep as California. Also, COVID happened and politics happened and the differing politics of Texas was lucrative to some.Texas is trying to be California? What has this world come to?
Given how many of these people live in the moment and live paycheck to paycheck financially and spend the money as soon as it's earned, 100 days forward probably is an extended time to them when most of us would see it as a short-term blip."Extended time"?! I thought it is barely 100 days? These shitters don't even have four month's worth of savings?
Texas is trying to make itself Hollywood and it did a video with a bunch of celebrities explaining the situation, that it would provide jobs for caterers, hotel-owners, independent workers, restaurants, and even Uber drivers.
States other than California all believe that offering the right amount and type of tax incentives will help lure some of the "big" film projects to move from California to their states. Unfortunately, the industry won't relocate unless the incentives are absolutely lucrative in their favor. Sauce: My state tried this and when budgetary woes and a change in the governor's party happened, the incentives were greatly reduced and the film industry pulled out of the state almost overnight, leaving behind empty buildings and a diminished economic impact.Texas is trying to be California? What has this world come to?
