Linus has a thing where he thinks some of his fuckups come of as quirky, but that Billet thing made me see red.
Not only are you going to misue a product, you're going to write it off as a quirky mistake, blame the company and call it shit on your 10M+ subscriber youtube channel that's supposed to be about reliable data, then you're going to double down on your gay podcast and have the gall to complain that it would have costed 500 bucks to find a proper card to test it on? My neezy, you employ 100+ people, you were offered 100 million dollars for this company, and you're still going to bitch about 500 dollars? For fucks sake. This isn't just a "didn't seat the RAM right and we fixed it guys" type of mistake, you're probably fucking with a small business because you and your employees made a mistake. Then to shit on them by selling their prototype as like a little bit of LTT memorabilia, I really don't know/care about the legalities involved, that's simply unacceptable and I have no idea why anybody would send them prototypes again if they act this way.
A lot of the other issues look like LTT is a poorly run ship and maybe the new CEO will fix it. But I'm a buffet youtube viewer, I see his stuff pop up on occasion and sometimes watch, for the Billet thing alone I will probably never watch his videos again just out of principle.

I notice that Linus' forum post doesn't address the biggest problem spoken in the video, that his company has an autistic fixation on putting out so many fucking videos that these mistakes happen in the first place. At no point does he ever say they're going to slow the fuck down and take their time to do things right.

Hpmph not the first body he's stepped over. Some people want the fame no matter who it hurts. If he saw someone drowning he wouldn't dive in to help unless there was a camera and lighting setup ready to produce content.

Good to see Steve and others pushing back against the tech bully that tries to hide behind wealth and power.

Holllly shit what a video. I knew Steve was one of my favorite tech YouTubers for a reason. He really does tell it like it is.
Like most people, I feel really bad for the small startup company getting their prototype auctioned off. I can’t imagine how shitty that is. I’m curious to see the damage control from the Linus Team’s end.

He can't. He has 100 employees. He overextended the company way too much. Whether he likes it or not, he'll need to downsize, and probably abandon the labs idea.


It's the worst business decision he ever made, alongside the brilliant idea to have a huge castle(now two) for all his employees to work in. As much as he hates wasting money, he sure wastes most of it.

LTT is one of those things I never understood. I've never seen him produce any meaningful information cause he's not an engineer or a programmer or even slightly skilled in either of those fields, he's a salesman. I don't see why anyone is surprised he's an unscrupulous jackass whose videos are about making money and not at all about technical accuracy, given he wouldn't even know what that is.

In his defense I think the new CEO just started, so I don't think he can say anything about it now. As the owner he could have said something, but probably not the best start of the relation with the CEO

I think the best approach would have been to go even more corpo-speak and leave it at "I am aware of the video, I and the team are reflecting on it. We will soon be releasing a statement."

The video was released around midday for Linus. Plenty of time to get something out by the end of the work day...
But of course Linus did not disappoint with the drama. Thank you Linus :christine:

Fun drama aside, this may end badly for Linus. The video is now at almost 500k views... That is pretty much half of the views Linus gets on a random video

I've been consistently impressed by Steve and GN for years and his risky call-outs of LTT have just increased my estimation of them.

In fairness, a lot of it is due to some personality conflict I have with Linus. I could never stand him, he seemed like a massive unfunny, unentertaining spaz who loved attention more than anything else.

Steve is by far more my speed with his fairly dry, data/science-driven approach. I'm under no illusions that we would hang out but he and his team just seemed infinitely more trustworthy than Linus to me.

The backpack warranty position Linus took was really scummy and it seems like Steve had had enough of Linus at the time so he severed ties. In the process he laid down a lot of interesting information about warrantees in general so it wasn't just a bunch of gay drama.

It seems like there's been a lot of anti-GN sentiment over at LMG and the funny thing is they could have just NOT included that pointless little swipe at GN. Those idiots have probably been seething for months.

They probably thought they were being clever, too.

How's that going for you, Linus? Feeling pretty clever, retard?

We talk constantly about how we intend to move forward and make better content. It's just taking longer than any of us would like. If everything had gone according to plan, we'd have our camera range, theater room, and acoustic chamber done like 6 months ago. Instead our warehouse is torn apart right now because they had to reinforce our roof in order to support the heat pumps that we've been trying to get procured since last summer.

The real world is messy, and the more cooks you have in the kitchen, the more room there is for error.

With that said, if all you want is a non-ambiguous statement that we're going to keep trying to get better, then here it is. We're going to keep trying to get better. Gary did a wonderful 'state-of-the-union' update for the company this morning about recent milestones and what we have in store. Those investments will keep flowing, and I promise that they will be a win for consumers and the tech industry.

For now, it's hard to do because I'm frustrated by the timelines too, but all I can do is say, "Stay tuned. it's upward from here and we're really excited."

A really good one - and the video where I actually FOUND the 3090 Ti that we were supposed to send back to Billet... grrr... - is kind of an undercover boss vid where I go and work in our logistics department for the day. This is the kind of thing I'm finding more time for in the new role and is already making a difference to some of our practices.

-1 new badminton facility he bought or co bought to make a badminton/lan party center

All of this done during the peak or near peak of peak Vancouver economy, as Canadian rents shoot up even higher because of the chyna illegals and other bad hombres

First thing is probably selling a bunch of LTT stuff, then temporary scaling back of labs. Badminton and all his ideas of making every court have cameras and robot line calling like in tennis tournaments will likely be paused and it will just be a money pit badminton center.

Mac Address might be the first channel to go, then maybe techquickie. Maybe he’ll buy out a contract of someone like Riley (who wants to go do more voice acting as a cover), or Tranthony scares away the female employees and salary but is lowered. Maybe they rush a GFuel or GamerSupps flavor through for quick attention and monetary gain, or let DBrand buy a small stake in the company…

I don't get it, am I the only one who ever noticed it, that for all the old LTT Forums users that are calling out Linus and all the freshly made accounts jumping in to pile on top of him no one seems to notice this one detail I've noticed and already mentioned:

This gigantic hypocritical statement in a single sentence. "I'm disappointed he didn't communicate with me" and right after that "the block was auctioned due to miscommunication".

This right here, this exposes Linus' narcissistic personality perfectly. Pointing this out would be an additional hard blow to his ego.

So, it's bad when Steve didn't send a message to him, but he downplays the fact that his company "miscommunicated" with Billet?

Linus, you yourself have miscommunicated with Billet which kickstarted this entire issue. Once again, typical narcissism. Everyone has to reach out to him, but he doesn't have to reach out to anyone else, because he's better than everyone.

It's all right there, perfectly pinpointed, a straight stab right into his ego. And notice the increased amount of Linus' simps blindly parroting this narrative right after Linus mentioned it. Zero thought process in this single sentence. And perhaps lack of the context that GN brought up, since simps will refuse to watch the criticism that's the main topic of the thread/drama.

Another thing worth pointing out: Steve planned to release this video for months, and now that he finally released it, Linus refuses to confront his criticisms with either a well thought-out video akin to the one Steve posted.

No, he wants to wait it out and hope that people will forget about it, because he is fully aware that he will be absolutely decimated the moment he tries to defend himself.

Linus is fully in the wrong here. He caused his company to reach this level of incompetence, he is the one who insulted Billet's products because he ignored the instructions, he is the one who demands to push out multiple videos every day across multiple channels, he is the one who ultimately led to this video to happen.

He has zero arguments against Steve, and any attempt of his to try and defend his ego would only end with people seeing him for the narcissistic hypocrite that he is, so the best way to make sure his ego won't get completely shattered is to hope that people will forget about this drama like they did with every other LTT drama.

And this is something that everyone should do: do not let this go. Keep nagging Linus about the issues that his company has that Steve pointed out. Run him into a corner to the point where he will either be forced to try and secure his ego once again, or actually let it shatter and take responsibility for his actions, and take drastic measures to make sure that his career won't suffer in the long run.

Heh, I like how he mentioned the "too many cooks" issue but he doesn't understand that this metaphor is used as an argument for downsizing. And that would be another ego hit, because the more people he employs the more he feels like he's running a big, successful company.

The more you start looking at what Linus is doing as just him being self-centered and only caring about his public perception everything starts to make sense. Everything that he does, all the fuckups that he goes through, all of it is done in a way that is only meant to benefit his ego, and make sure it won't get hit. He is incapable of swallowing his pride when he ends up making a catastrophic error.
