After reviewing everything people've said, I think that this service is woefully reckless in their responsibility to the lives on transgendered LGBTQ youth in America. Their allocation of funds is poor, their service coverage is abysmal, and their practices are ineffective at best and life threatening at worst. On that merit alone, I will condone people who choose to reach out to funding entities, higher ups, and perhaps the IRS for revocation of 501(c)(3) status. People who manage to do this service to the gay community will receive forum goodies for it, as that's basically all I can give.

Why do they need SOOOOO MUCH MONEY to run a service that is staffed by a couple of people sometimes?

While they have not applied for AAS accreditation, it would be nice if they tried to assume some of the elements of what the AAS suggests in order to help make the organization better. One thing that the AAS suggests when there is a focused community is that on contact info there are alternative services listed when they aren't open. They don't even do that.

Another thing, I am looking over this material on the site and I am not seeing anything mentioning crisis, they say they are ready to respond to "whatever your support needs are", while their mission states "Trans Lifeline works to end transgender suicide and improve overall mental health of transgender people through education, advocacy, and direct service. We empower trans people to help one another, and to shape our collective efforts by drawing upon our wealth of individual experiences." If their mission is to be interpreted as the scope of their organization, I would contend that they are being misleading in their advertising. Their advertising doesn't mention health and wellness, it is wrapped in suicide prevention. Here's an example.

It is fine to be a suicide prevention and health and wellness line, however when your basis of funding is based on the former and not the latter then it is concerning because it seems as though you are monetizing crisis. I would love to see a breakdown of how many calls they get that are legitimate suicide-related calls and not "Richard's bored on steam" or "ADF needs to know what type of cheese to buy".

Sorry for sperging on this, just I am always curious about how people can be disingenuous as fuck about things that are important and then cast shit on us for laughing at goofy people on the internet.
