Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

I will give them credit where credit is due. I have lived and driven in very large cities several times in my life and the short time I lived in Houston is was the most terrifying and stressful experience driving I've had outside of NYC. Within the first three days living there I was rear ended by an elderly woman at a stop sign, naturally with big hair and a little poodle in her lap as you do in Texas.

One of the things I've heard about but never experienced is where someone will start aggressively tailgate you all the way to a parking lot before peeling off. Biggest dangers you have are uninsured junkmobiles (no working headlights, no pollution controls) piloted by illegals and hoods.

Isn't one of their big arguments that trains are more passanger efficient than cars? If the train car is laid out so there are only two seats per row and have enough legroom between them to recline than wouldn't a car be better if your traveling with more than one person space wise?
Trains are great if I have a hot date or business in another city that I need to get to. But being able to meander and make stops with a car isn't a bug, but a feature. For one it's nice to stretch your legs and two, you can see some cool stuff. In my last HSR trip I saw a giant Buddha statue out the window. If I was in a car you bet I would take a detour and check it out or at least pull over and take pictures.

They're basically just describing a car seat.
  • Made of leather
  • Reclinable
  • Can adjust for leg room
Basically that's everything my 10 year old Acura has; however I can also drive short distances and have all those things. But I guess the thing I don't get is a soda and a packet of crackers that I have to pay 50 dollars for.

My Crown Vic may not have the leather seats but myself and three adult friends can all pile in in total comfort with no performance loss because lol 'Merican V8 powah and we could look at all the awesome Buddha statues we pleased along the way like @FILTH Tourist wants to do. Honestly it's pretty nice, surprisingly good on loggind roads and fire roads too so we can get to some prime fishing spots.

God I love my car.

Los Angeles, CA to Sandpoint, ID.

If you get a cabin, you can bring your own booze.

I don't understand why they don't like Amtrak for long distance travel. Half the fun is being able to sight see. Personally, I geotag place I want to visit when I put my autism hat on a take Amtrak.

It might take longer than European trains but if time was a huge factor for long distance travel than just fucking fly.

When it comes to smaller distances, one can always book on Amtrak Business Class:
1000002134.jpg
Why Business class? The NJB are using non-economy class.

Muh freshbrewed coffee.

"Free" booze!

I am not against rail, what I am against is public vanity projects that allow recreational travel to be subsidized. Now, this brings question about other "subsidized" transportation.

  • Highways are used for trade, production, and civilian movement.
  • Plane travel. Sure, stop subsidizing the airlines.
The issue of trade and civilian transportation are served by Amtrak. While, train cars should be updated from time to time, I don't think the taxpayer should foot the bill for Avant Garde train cars if the ones in operation are of reasonable comfort. I don't believe we should bulldoze people's homes to make way for a new rail line in metro areas that are already developed.

I used to take the train from my local station in Simi Valley down to San Diego when my friend wanted to go fishing. Take to train down and munch on some snacks, fish, stay at a hotel (with the fish in their fridge), then take the train back up in the morning, and cook said fish I caught on Saturday for dinner on Sunday.

The American tax payer should not subsidize that nor for me to do that trip in even greater comfort.

That's one of those weird cross-overs where the Pacific Surfliner is more like an intercity rail but used like a commuter (built like a steakhouse, handles like a bistro). Many many people use that train for a commute, even if it's just weekly, and certain trains you WANT to get that business class seat if you're not getting on early in the ride (Simi Valley is pretty early, but past Burstank you're fucked if it's the 6PM train) just so you get a seat.

Miles above the Metrostink with it's hard plastic piss-proof seats.

Maybe we can gauge transportation simply based on "how hard would it be to clean if I took a shit and vomited right here" metric; the harder it would be to clean the better the transportation is gonna be.

I agree on the subsidies; subsidizing commuters is fine (get those faggots off my roads), but subsidizing retirees and vacationers is a bit more sus.

God is it annoying when they try to push the idea of "ackshually you get MORE free time on public transit". Free time to do what exactly? Can I take a nice long shit on a bus? Can I enjoy a smoke? Stretch my legs a bit? No, the only thing I can really do is awkwardly try to play the game console I brought with me, awkwardly try to read the book I brought with me or just give up and doomscroll on my phone when I can't focus on the first two. Sorry traincucks, but no amount of extra time to awkwardly bing bing wahoo around strangers will ever offset the convenience of being able to roll out of bee and be at work within 15-30 minutes.
Couldn't say it better. Sure you can play your phone or Switch, but you aren't really relaxed. And IF there's any food services, they cost a shit ton, vs some crackers you picked up for a couple bucks that can be eaten at home OR in the car

That's me and my XG350, except it has the heated leather seats. Had to add Bluetooth in, might not have fancy screens, but it's nice driving just you and the boys, guns in the trunk, hauling ass to the range with that big ass V6 just humming

That's another thing, trunk space. You can put all your shit in there instead of carrying it on a train where you might leave it behind

The main argument for American highways was for military movement.
Similar to Europe, the Nazi Autobahn and it's clones everywhere, heck, most parts of it are designed to be wartime emergency runways for military aircraft in case the airports are nuked.

Not just that, but nuclear missile transport. There's a reason the bridges over highways are always a certain height.

To this day I still don't understand how these autists hate motorcycles;

You basically don't pollute much
You get somewhere fast
Its small and light
Its more of a danger to you than anyone else
Its cheap
Its easily repairable, especially if you get a Japanese one
You can park them where cyclists park their bicycles
They're pretty fucking efficient transport vehicles for 1-2 people, way more than a 5-7 seater car with one driver in them.
Did I mention that they're not too bad for the environment yet?

Ah shit yeah wait they use these things called "roads". Fucking autists the bunch.

It’s because they don’t want want to improve mobility. They want to reduce it so that no one can travel anywhere. They believe that once they’ve turned a 5 minute drive into a 20 minute one, people will support densification in order to get to businesses in a reasonable amount of time. Motorcycles don’t require destroying automotive infrastructure and can go anywhere a car can in the same amount of time, so they’re useless for their real goals. It’s the same reason why they hate bike trails and pedestrian bridges.

just wanna interject

only on the carbon dioxide side. youre still spitting out more unburnt hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrous oxide than you would on a normal car so the bike does have you beat on that admittedly. i'll also mention they arent super light or small depending on the motorbike you get (good luck bringing in a harley into your place if you really needed to for some reason), and theyre only cheap until we get into insurance.
still fine with motorcycles tho. i wanna see hybrid options become a thing for them tho. work our way up to having decent electric motorcycles that last a bit

I always thought Metrolink was for daily commuters while Amtrak was mainly for recreation. The only reason why I take Amtrak is because Metrolink has more crazy people given the significantly lower fair.

True, I guess I'm biased as a Naked-Bike rider. It also helps if you don't work in an office job and sit on your ass all day when dealing with the weight of a bike, which most of those nerds sure seem to do, given that walking more than half a mile to your nearest wallmart seems "unwalkable", "carbrained" and "dangerous" to those fucks.

, except it has the heated leather seats
The P71 doesn't get those unfortunately, but if we aren't doing goon shit my buddy has a Grand Marquis which is basically my car without the cop shit and with heated leather seats. That thing is a dream to ride in.

Yeah there is something to be said even for a tiny car like a little Fiests or some shit. You can fit a month's worth of groceries into a Fiesta sedan's trunk, I've done it. I'm also one of those weirdos that goes grocery shopping once a month, I'd love to see someone try that on any form of public transit or bike.
To this day I still don't understand how these autists hate motorcycles;
Because they have allowed themselves to be ruled by fear and insecurity. That's really the philosophical basis of all their beliefs when you boil them down, fear and insecurity.
(good luck bringing in a harley into your place if you really needed to for some reason)
Depends on the Harley, and the house. I know a guy who stores his Sportster in his house.

The retards do try, we have plenty of photos. What is one trip home in a car is a massive effort using public transit, or just getting a sack of groceries every day. That's how these people live

It is, but if you can afford the Amtrak (or back when they let the metrostink pass holders on) you take the Amtrak, because the price keeps the niggers off.

The urbanists claim cars make people asocial and lonely, but they will never know the feeling of driving with 4 friends in your car cruising around listening to the stereo. I was rewatching old Simpsons episodes and the episode Bart on the road captures this feeling perfectly of 4 guys on a trip.
