Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

Hard to not count this as another win for Gigachad DSP. Another yt legend slowly sinking while he is doing just fine sitting on his ass playing Street Fighter collecting donations from whales.

I honestly don't have a clue as to how the fuck this guy got his finger on the pulse of tech: his channel was always a monument to wasteful excess. He can spend thousands of dollars on shit he doesn't need or retarded projects but he can't spend money to pay his team to retest things properly? He can't do it himself pro bono? He was always entertainment first, everything else dead last.

All of this couldn't have happened to a nicer guy frankly.

Linus definitely tried to match DSP's narcissism and deflection with that apology, but no one can come close the GOAT.

1. Mouse issue [...]
The cope I have seen was "if LTT can't find it, how does the manufacturer expect us to", which is a ridiculous cope. LTT is supposed find these issues.
I have not seen this response and I must put it into the world: we live in the era of social media. You are telling me that an autist who buys this mouse would NOT go to reddit (or similar) and ASK why his mouse is working terribly? Eventually, maybe from photos or maybe by someone having had the same experience, an answer will be found.
Then eventually the company will change the plastic on the feet to something more noticeable, but SOCIAL MEDIA! Linus, you run a tech forum... where people ask each other questions ALL THE FUCKING TIME!

The beatings will continue until integrity improves.
Longer podcast (linked in the description)
An interesting point about the automated benchmarking thing - they say that they think that LTT will eventually find out what they already know: it doesn't work. Idk about anything, but I liked the phrasing as it encapsulates that the main issue of LTT is the lack of real industry experience

They have a 'must be subscribed for 6 months to chat' limit on the LTT livestream. Is this something they always had or was this to account for the current drama?
I think from prior to this drama. I heard in another video (not by LTT, cannot track it down) that initially it was "racist" when they had it open for everyone so they restricted it.
The fact that those comments are being made by those that spend money on LTT speaks volume

I bet the new CEOs first hire will be a PR person. The whole response should have been drafted and reviewed, not typed out on some forum.
They have TWO (or three?) social media people! Okay, not the same job, but it should be same skills.

I would love to be in the room when this happens.
["What do you say you do here?"]
"I.... uhhhh... I have, aheam, y'know, designed and coordinated the line of women clothing for LTT, including the underwear!"

Speaking of Luke (and to be clear I don't think it implies anything) it's odd that despite having been CTO of Linus Media Group for some time now he doesn't appear at all in their list of employees.
Interesting... it has been how long since Anthony got his name updated? (And idk if it was even a legal name change). I know this exact thing was brought up in the Tranthony saga... I am surprised it has not been fixed yet
I think the last episode of Wan I ever watched was a bit over 1 year ago... and shit, Luke looks so beaten down in that last video :( Luke, run!

Hot damn. :story:
I may be retarded but - is it obvious if the messages are adapted from direct wording or it is just a summary/dramatization?
Because using an emoji in the reply would be the cherry on top. I would normally just think it could not be real, but LTT incompetence knows no bounds. I can see these idiot zoomzooms thinking that response is quirky and cute

Here's how I would reply to Gamers Nexus.
That would be a good reply, but it I can see with emotions running high one may not be able to produce the best response. A good reply takes some time, also should probably run it by the CEO first (and the social media/PR people... and maybe your trusted employees, begging them to be brutally honest). Linus should have taken his time (We have seen the video, we take its content seriously and are discussing it. We will share a reply later today. ... Bonus: you can now look at what the people comment that they want to see and speculate the content to be). Or quicker, let Luke answer, pretending it was Linus. Clearly Luke opinions are more in line with the audience
Source: not a CEO. But not a failed CEO either!

LTT on the other hand was always the shitty tech equivalent of Top Gear at best(except nowhere near as entertaining).
It's funny how this has come up naturally at least a couple of times in the 200+ pages discussion. Also someone brought it up in the LTT forum yesterday. The comparison seems pretty natural. Making it more modern - LTT is like Top Gear, but the modern one. New hosts with zero charisma and a consistent misunderstanding on what made the show great. It was never the expensive cars, it was the hosts and "wacky" shit they did, but still done with heart and care for their craft (aka entertaining people). Ffs, a great episode featured their moms driving small, uber-normal cars. Yet, it was fun!

That's what makes me not believe this part of his statement:

Adam and I were talking about this today. He advocated for re-testing it regardless of how non-viable it was as a product at the time and I think he expressed really well today why it mattered. It was like making a video about a supercar. It doesn't mater if no one watching will buy it. They just wanna see it rip. I missed that, but it wasn't because I didn't care about the consumer.. it was because I was so focused on how this product impacted a potential buyer.
If Linus is looking after the interests of a potential buyer so much, how does it not cross his mind that the potential buyers of such expensive, cutting-edge stuff want the best performance, looks, or novelty points even at exorbitant prices, given that he himself exhibits those very characteristics with his lavish spending?

I wanted to evaluate it as a product, and as a product, IF it could manage to compete with the temperatures of the highest end blocks on the planet, it still wouldn't make sense to buy... so from my point of view, re-testing it and finding out that yes, it did in fact run cooler made no difference to the conclusion, so it didn't really make a difference.
So, if the opinion is that the product is a non-starter no matter the performance, then why review it in the first place?

I bet with my boss on the guy's subscriber count dropping at least 10% in the following month, hopefully I'll win (the prize is ice cream)
How often does social blade sub count get updated?

Did he attend LTX? He has in the past, or am I making it up?
Didn't Steve attend LTX in the past too?

How many enemies is he making? That engineer that made those comments is a fucking idiot. He is not a "PR person", but he is on the job and minimum standards of professionalism should be respected. Maybe neither Linus nor the guy ever heard of the idea of having business acquaintances. Imagine if LTT labs had fostered good relationship with their previous "friends" in the sector. Share initial data so they can cross-check, tour each other set ups, collabs, etc... but No, Linus thought he could destroy everyone else. Idiot.

He fucking built a G-O-L-D (Au) controller and reviewed its performance! He talked about potentially selling it to someone exorbitantly rich................... the controller did not even work that well due to the new (gold) shell being too heavy on the buttons and other issues.
Fuck
Off

Your boss wants to buy ice cream, nice dude!

Updates on viewership:
GamersNexus has increased subscriptions by ~40,000 since a couple hours after the video released yesterday

Yesterday's video:

Not sure what the delta is on LTT's subscriptions.

I'm pretty sure that the messages in the image attributed to LMG are direct transcriptions sent by BL to GN.

are we sure the floatplane decline is real?
I would say so

Thread immediately after the main discussion one (below)

Cancel Your Floatplane Subscription. Don't Buy Their Merch.

People who care about quality items. They're not the only company to make expensive screwdrivers.
You clearly have no grasp of how much it actually costs to bring products to market, especially in small batches.
Perhaps you should educate yourself a little more before spouting disinformation.
This topic will likely be locked/deleted but I want to make sure anybody reading this understands LMG is more than just Linus. If you want to buy the products, buy the products. If you want to still consume their content, do so. There are 100+ other non-Linus people working for LMG that likely are not part of the core issues being addressed right now.
This must be hurting Linus so much!
Dude LTT is an entertainment channel not a serious tech-review outlet. You needed GN to see that? LTT videos are fun like Tiktok or Netflix and it's ok to enjoy that.

I disagree with Steve on one thing
The framework thing is overblown - it does not prove being biased.
