I was in Arakawa at the time of Byuu's supposed suicide while working on another case (I've got confirmation emails of the flight if needed). Police confirmed there were no suicides of foreigners upon inquiry. A while later I submitted a formal request at the behest of the DOS and contacted Japanese police over phone (call logs are somewhere in one of the Byuu threads) just in case Byuu was lying and it may have occurred in another district, but again, the police said that there were no suicides of foreigners. Investigations from the DOS themselves have reported, twice in a span of one year, one by phone and one by physical letter, that they've never received a death certificate from the embassy.
This is actually a common lolicon's coping mechanism whenever they get called out for their degeneracy. He is definitely a lolicon considering he didn't even shy away from supporting pawoo.net or Japanese mastodon instance (which are filled with lolicon and shotacon materials, not to mention actual fucking CSAM in some cases), his "questionable" obsession with a Touhou character Cirno if you check out his pixiv account and he even tried to weasel from this through "muh age of consent of this country is 14" for god sake.

Derrick claims that Byuu's husband (Patrick Tresner, presumably) had to handle his remains, which goes directly against the claim that Wayne's company did it. (Or is it a standard practice in Japan to handle somebody's remains twice?)
As I understand this would actually be what happens. In an overseas death the department of state would contact the next of kin who would be handling the arrangements. There is some chance they would hand it off to a friend in-country but the next of kin would be the one making that decision. Assuming Byuu was still married then this would be Patrick.

It's a Cirno/Touhou-themed account with some pretty questionable art. [I'm not positive, but I don't think this is Marcan's account. He normally uses some variation of "marcan" as a username everywhere. Very interesting that he likes this person's art, though! Enough to put it in a presentation! ]

the reason is because pawoo and baraag are de-facto lolicon servers with neither the censorship requirements of pixiv or the content moderation of twitter. servers in different countries are going to have different laws and different cultural mores so you will no longer have the twitter model of curating the world's content by the standards of California progressivism which will probably also result in a far more fractured set of communities. considering the kinds of harassment artists are subject to on twitter, i don't even know if that is a bad thing.

It means that out of the TWO times Marcan hung out with Byuu IRL, one of those times was actually for some kind of business meeting with a couple other people as well, and they all strolled around Akihabara afterward. Not exactly an example of dear friends having fun together just for the hell of it. I would bet that the Comiket meeting wasn't all that personal either; Marcan and Byuu probably just happened to bump into each other while they were both attending the con.
The only thing I wouldn't necessarily find weird about them all showing up in Akihabara a lot is that it once was old Nintendo faggot central. Lots of shops where you can get old carts and hardware for pennies. It's gentrified quite a bit since a couple decades ago but last I knew there was still lots of this stuff there. To me it would seem like a good place to meet other people in the "scene" you don't really know outside of online, especially through people you do know and when the area hands you the "social custom" of looking at old game shit you can pretend to bond over. Of all the places in the area to meet considering their interests it makes sense.
