So I played it, and while the anime girl looked young, I kind of just figured it was an attempt at a childlike aesthetic and it didn’t come off as sexual or fetishistic.

And while i can’t speak for the rest of the games, but what I played was solid. I’m not a pedo so I didn’t pay much attention or thought to the art, just thought it was weeb shit.

Now I’m split on the whole issue, since I have no idea how the publisher sees the degenerate community the games have allowed to come about, being so perverse… and seemingly keep making games feeding into it without addressing it. Although I doubt most of these pedos have ever played the actual games.

Hector probably did have some input on the article, but even without him, KF would be considered a bad site by JP standards. I still don't get the obsessive western fans for this game. None of the actual games have had console releases in the west, only the fan games which is really weird. I love shmups and bullet hell games, but this is way too much. They even have Touhou conventions. Those fumos are ridiculously expensive, too. I'm not surprised that Hector is into this shit.

I played Touhou Luna Nights recently (which was very fun) and it's being sold on Steam. Team Ladybug, the devs of that game, are not affiliated with AliceSoft even though they're selling a work with his characters. This is contrary to Disney and Mickey Mouse, for example. If you use Mickey Mouse outside of anything that's Disney-sanctioned, you're staring a lawsuit in the face.

ZUN doesn't need nor want to address it because he basically says "I don't take any responsibility for what you do with my stuff. Do whatever, but leave me out of it. You can make your stuff with my stuff, but only you are responsible for your stuff."
Whether or not you agree with that is up to you, but it's absolutely been a contributing factor to the popularity of Touhou on the whole.
