Euronymous was jewing pretty much everyone in the Norwegian Black Metal scene. I think he had connections to a bunch of recording studios or something and owned a store which sold black metal albums and merch. A lot of people claimed they never got their share of profits from the store or that Euro just straight up stole from them. Never heard the revenge thing and frankly Varg probably didn't give two shits about Dead.

varg himself claims he was informed that euronymous was planning to kill him, so he figured his best shot was to preemt that by acting first.
the stuff about dead is from another (ex) mayhem guy, when euronymous used the pics of deads corpse for an album cover he was so disgusted that he left the band, and he later said in some interview that if varg hadn't killed euronymous first then he would have done it himself later.

side note, euronymous was apparently the edgiest edgelord ever, thr guy joined some local communist party in norway because he loved the idea of making people suffer like stalin did, but eventually left again because he was disappointed that the other people in that party didn't share his fantasies of brutal totalitarian oppression.
meanwhile varg was always (and still is) on the esoteric far right, dabbling in a mixture of national socialism and nordic paganism and related autism, so ideologically these two were polar opposites, diametrically opposed to each other, it was basically inevitable that they would eventually clash.

This reminds me of something I've heard that I cannot substantiate, which is that apparently an archaic name for the Devil was "The Nigger Man", since in some old English traditions he'd sometimes appear as a coal black man.
Presumably that's the reason for the name of Lovecraft's black cat, too.

Never fails to amuse me how deranged things get in Argentina, particularly on TV.
I'm from... somewhere else in South America, but even the most extreme meme political personalities here would blush at the idea of going on a rant like that on TV. They could mimic a fraction of his power and their careers would end right then and there.
Hell, even people like Bolsonaro hold back their power levels a bit.

But not Argies, no. They can do anything short of snorting coke off the ass of a hooker on live TV and no one bats an eye.

Another possible theory that Varg probably wouldn't want to cop to is that with the huge drug use in the BM scene at the time Euro owed Varg money though I think it is more likely that Euro just jewed varg like everyone else.

I thought it was because Varg didn't like the way Euronymous ate his cornflakes.
