These kids are roped into this whole "international student" pyramid scheme, promising them a good life in a first world country. Their family pour their life savings into it and what happens? They end up working multiple jobs and sharing an apartment with 6 different people. Whole thing honestly verges on being inhumane.

In a saner time you had to meet a set criteria based on points. Do you speak english/french, what are your plans for living in Canada, do you plan to start a business, things like that. Now they don't care as long as housing is kept high, wages are kept low and you keep paying the HST.

My father in law told stories about his relatives coming from Italy and he was 100% solely responsible for them. From housing to healthcare to food and helping them find a job. It’s almost unbelievable to think Canada was actually like that.

That's a provincial level law. Most provinces do not require a permit for body armour. Alberta (and, I think, Manitoba) do. Although in Alberta's case, a firearms license counts.

You've highlighted the one weird disrepency in Canadian criminal and permit laws. In most cases, federal Canadian law regarding crime, firearms and self-defence equipment supercedes all. But somehow the provinces have SOME leeway in permission nuances.

When I lived in BC for a bit, as much of a hippy shithole it is, I was suprised that things like bear spray, batons and some knives and knuckle dusters were allowed. I would of figured the province of "Bring Cash" would of taken the UK route; which is "Why would you need to defend yourself citizen? The government will do it for you."
