I'm personally conflicted. On one hand, Twitter dying would be funny, especially since all attempts at alternates sites have fallen flat on their face. On the other hand, retards that seethe every time Musk sneezes being "forced" to use his site constantly raging and saying it'll die any day now for the next decade is also pretty amusing.

TBH i'm enough of a greybeard to remember when "social media" was slashdot and digg, and they had this amazing thing called a dislike button. Dislikes could not be blocked, and directly de-ranked your posts.

The toxic shitbaggery you see on places like twatter are the direct result of a removal of dislikes.

To be honest, I agree. The block option on Twitter is stupid, because all it takes to read tweets from someone who blocked you is to open their account in an incognito tab. And if you want to troll someone, making a sock is trivial.

It accomplishes nothing and I believe any kind of feature that restricts your account from accessing things that are accessible without an account is retarded. Like for example completely locking you out of the site if you're banned, but if you log out you can read public posts and such. Completely counter-intuitive and only leads to an artificial increase of registered accounts.

Also, Twitter had a "mute" option for a long time which would result in you not seeing anything from a user you've muted, basically putting him on ignore. If Musk was smart about it, he would merge these two features so that blocking someone would mute them, but also block them from DM'ing you. Then all the Twittertards who can't take someone else's opinion would not see them, and they wouldn't be contacted by them via DM's, while the other side would still be able to read their Tweets and reply to them. Both sides would be happy that way.
