I think he can be funny when he's talking/doing his podcast, but reading his twitter is painful. I've been thinking about this for a while: if you've ever listened to Cum Town (as I have, starting around the time I just gave up listening to TDS), they talk a lot about Tom Myers, a comedian from the greater Baltimore area that hosts Nick and Stav knew from when they started doing comedy. Whenever they make fun of him, Nick specifically refers to Tom's comedy as being "schizophrenic." Not in the literal "he's just saying complete jibberish nonsense" sense; on the contrary, I remember Nick saying that it's not that Tom doesn't understand jokes or joke structure because he does, but his ability to translate his thoughts into joke form is nonexistent. So there's this bizarre disconnect between what he thinks and how that thought ends up being communicated.
I mention all this because Dick's twitter is (at least before it just completely devolved into quote tweeting people like Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk) just like that. The best example was one Josh talked about on a MatI episode from a year ago; when Roe v Wade got overturned the joke he made was "we should repeal the nineteenth amendment next", when that doesn't make any fucking sense because the supreme court can't declare a constitutional amendment to be unconstitutional. It's like he wants to be smart and funny but has no idea what he says until after he presses send.

Him and Vito essentially make some snarky reply to almost every one of July’s tweets. It’s like those idiots who got “famous” for replying to every one of Trump’s tweets when he was president.
I think the main reason for Dick is that Eric actually started up an entire publishing and crowdfunding company to distribute his comics successfully, his main issue was sub-estimating demand, causing his server to go down due to people DDOS-ing of his order forms (which Dick immediately laughed at, like that wasn't the type of DDOS everyone wishes they had).
In contrast, Dick's NP2 was and his Fediverse instances (VerifiedAF and that Guntiverse one so Ralph could read Poast) both failed miserably.
You can capitalize on making fun on Maddox cause he is a retarded sperg and a loser, it's funny to make fun of him, much like its funny to make fun of DSP.
July is just a normal guy who is like ten times more successful business wise than Dick's ever been, there is not much to make fun of other than abstract concepts, like the writing quality of his books, which is all Dick has, so attacking Eric only comes out as jealous and petty contrarianism, cause Dick has to be contrarian to anything that is popular.
Dick was actually trying to get closer to Eric and network with him, to the point of going on stream and delivering his "serious critique" of the comic, while going "it's not like I want to be your friend or anything, baka" like a stupid anime tsundere.
Eric immediately called Dick out and told him his advice is worthless cause he's disingenuous and untrustworthy, which is true, Dick frequently gives bad advice on purpose (the Ralphamale persona, Mint Salad, to name a few).
Eric also literally called out the "pretending to be retarded" shtick.
Dick has been insanely butt hurt since, and that's when he started to double down on Vito the Pedo's "ironic" pedophile "comedy", because that'll show them.

Yeah, but does Maddox actually do anything these days though? I looked at his Youtube channel, and his last upload was a year ago.
DSP is a whole other animal. He'll never stop, and that makes him evergreen. That, I get.
I just feel like if Dick went back to harping on Maddox it would be akin to how Ralph spent years spiking the football against Mundane Matt. At some point it just draws further attention to how little material you actually have.
