Even an idiot layman who knows nothing about the law would not prepare for a hearing on determining why he's being a lying deadbeat by trying to reschedule 3 days before the hearing. If I were judge Sosnay, this would prejudice me against him right off the bat. I mean he better come in with a doctors note and a bill for an emergency room visit to explain why this late in the game an unemployed "writer" with multiple vehicles can't make it there Thursday morning.

Is he procuring an attorney? Possible? I'm sure some ambulance chaser will tell him anything he wants to hear in order to get that retainer. I'd have to imagine a good attorney would be just be honest with him, explain there is simply not much that can be done. What would an attorney even say? He agreed to pay and he even suggested a payment plan, didn't he? If he says he refuses to pay I'd have to imagine immediate contempt. Sosnay gave some biz execs contempt in march for some real estate thing about a mall or something, $1000 a day for not showing up to his courtroom as ordered. What would fatty even say if they introduce the recording of him saying the ruling is "illegitimate"? If I were Sosnay I'd be in open court asking fatty, even if he agrees to pay again, how do we know he'll make good on his word this time?

Does Judge Sosnay have the power to enforce some means of automatically compelling him if he defalts for the second time? Like if he swears on his life he'll pay this time and then he's proven a liar again, does court have to reconvene or can Quasi just start seizing property?

there is no way to know how this hearing will play out. rick's brain is unblanaced enough that almost any possibility has a slight chance of happening. the only thing off the table is him acting sane.

This should be a very uncomplicated hearing. The judge will ask "why did you not pay?" That should really be the only thing the judge wants to talk about. Not stalkers, not children, not prison, just why did you not pay?

Or, he will just decide to not show up. because he doesn't need to, because everyone can clearly see that the judgement was invalid and therefore void.

I only had to go to court once. The person I was in dispute with changed lawyers twice and the poor bitch he ended up with on the day was yelled at by the judge for not getting more proper instructions from her client. She looked 20 at best and terrified. Hopefully nobody takes Piggy on and sends an intern.

I am of the strong belief the only reason they didn't appeal the original judgement was financial, Patrick could never accept he lost. I'm sure he either went to SFWA and said "hey guys, I'm just gonna need a little more cash for the appeal" and they told him no and/or Nikki's mother refused to give him a "loan" for what an appeals attorney would charge. I suppose it doesn't matter why he didn't but, he didn't when he had the chance. I find it a bit dubious he would all of sudden find money for an attorney for this latest hearing. He attempted (very poorly) to win the hearts and minds of strangers doing a few interviews and even managed to fuck that up by burning a bridge or two. I think he was really banking on a public outcry on his behalf that never did or will happen. Whoops, nobody cares about your online jihad against people who just like to laugh at you, fatty.
