Hector Martin / Héctor Martín Cantero / @marcan42 / マルカン / @marcan42x / @marcan@treehouse.systems / Asahi Lina / Asahi Linux - Developer of Asahi Linux with a VTuber persona. Made Byuu's death unbelievable. Constantly accuses others of harassment and abuse. Hates Hacker News and Kiwi Farms.
So, I finally got around to actually trying out Asahi Linux.
I tried it on two Macbooks, a M2 Macbook Pro 13 inch, and a M1 Air 13 inch.
Needless to say, it was a total mess. On the Macbook Pro, I didn’t even have sound out of the built in speakers. No GPU acceleration. Out of the two USBC ports this machine has, only 1 worked. Battery info was wildly inaccurate, laptop died at 30%. Wifi was horridly slow. Suspend kernel panicked the machine.
M1 Air was slightly better. Still, unusable day to day.
Oh, and as a bonus, when I tried uninstalling Asahi from the Macbook Pro, the space which I had partitioned for Asahi just vanished and I was unable to reclaim the space I gave it, until I put the device into DFU mode and did a full reinstall (which, btw, you need another mac to fix issues like this. Fuck you, Apple.)
It’s worth nothing that the retard working on the GPU development of Asahi is a literal tranny.

It detected the latent bits in the RAM which correspond to the kiwifarms IP address and enabled the bigot flag.
More seriously now. We know that Hector is Lina, which was obvious from the huge pile of evidence well before this thread started. Using the data I already scraped from Hector's and Lina's mastodon accounts I made a different chart that shows the time of each post:
The horizontal axis is time of day (seconds), and the vertical one is day of year. It's easy to see they have the same posting style (several posts in series) and that it's rare to see them write that series of posts at the same time. It's either Hector posting for a while, then Lina, or sometimes Hector makes a long chain of posts and Lina makes one or two. Hector stays up late to post and sometimes Lina too. They both have a fucked up sleep schedule (if you run this on post data from other people you can see there is a 5-6 hour hole each day when they sleep).
For comparison a similar chart for Foone and Ariadne (treehouse.systems admin) who are different people in the same time zone, and for Hector and Misty who are in different time zones:
You see the charts are different, right? They post at the same time more often, Hector has to switch accounts or devices to talk as Lina and it takes some time.
But now for the good stuff. The Creme-de-la-creme. The duck's nuts. The bee's knees.
A small tool was written that compares the style of one or more texts. It's a few scripts for preparing data and one main script that does the whole stylometric analysis. It took me a few weeks since I first said I am doing it, and so I deliver.
The script has a list of the most common words in the sample text and then counts the frequency of these words in all test texts. This creates a large matrix where each row is a test text and each column is one of the marker words. Each of the rows is a vector and texts which are similar in style are going to be close to each other in the vector space.
Different people will use different words more ofter, so if person A uses "but" more than "however" and person B does the opposite, we can assume they are different. Now you extend this to a few more common words in English and you get quite a precise signature of each of the texts. Because the same author will use the same style in his or her texts, the signature will have similar values (for N chosen words we get an N-element vector, which points to a point in an N-element space). The charts are generated by applying the PCA algorhitm that lets us best see a bunch of points in a multidimensional space by putting them on a 2-d chart. The PCA algorhitm squashes the N-dimensional point cloud into a two dimensional point cloud in a way that preserves the relative point distances the best.
I chose 3 suspects as to who could be the google doc author. It assumed it could be Byuu, Hector himself or Alyssa. I've also scraped some other people's texts to get a control group, Drew DeVault and Till Kottman (Maia Crimew)
I've collected all Hector's writings from marcan.sh, some of his posts from hackmii and a few of his longer mastodon posts. Alyssa's texts were few and only from rosenzweig.io. Near's writings were taken from https://github.com/higan-emu/emulation-articles and from the archives. I've also included three of this throwaway account posts on KF.
Many thanks @Temperance XIV for linking the hackmii webiste as well as near's archives. I would have had it a lot harder without these.
I have done a few analyses with different approaches to choosing markers and the like. Eventually I chose the approach to use the most common words in the google doc as the markers because it makes most sense. Since we want to compare how similar each text is to the google doc, we have to use a criterium which will be strong for the google doc.
Let's look at the charts then.
First, Alyssa. Alyssa's style was completely different from the letter in all of the tests I've done. Alyssa writes mostly technical stuff so it's to be expected.
Next is Byuu. Byuu's writings form a compact cloud in the chart but that's only because the throwaway account posts have gradually different style (very likely it was his mental state changing to worse and worse. It is a very grim observation. The throwaway post files are numbered chronologically)
Finally, let's look at Hector's chart:
The google doc... is within the area where his posts fall! And the closest posts to the google doc are the kind he would write under strong emotions! Argon resolution post was a report that they settled some drama. The modchips_homebrew file was hector getting pissed that some homebrew requires proprietiary modchips. The few posts below the google doc are mostly about other scams so they are also emotionally loaded. This is evidence pointing to Hector Martin as the text author. The Google doc was a text with an emotional load, written in the past tense. It falls within the area of the style of Hector writing similar things. This means that if Hector wrote another text about something emotional for him (I believe he gets more emotional because he's writing about le evil Kiwi Farms than byuu's death), it would fall close to the posts in the top half of the chart. Which is where the google doc fell.
All of these charts were generated independently, so the PCA coordinates are different units. To compare the google doc with all three authors at once I made another chart which analyzes all the texts I have. Here all texts are compared together in a single space. The shape is a little different because the PCA weights are different, but you can see the data makes sense, because texts by the same author form groups. Hectors style is very broad but the google doc is far away from Byuu and Alyssa which means their styles are dissimilar to the google doc style. I've disabled the labels to make the chart more clear.
The colors are as above. Red is Hector, Green is Byuu, Blue is Alyssa. The google doc is orange.
The google doc was written by Hector Martin. Why are you lying Hector? This is hard evidence. This is forensics, this is what the cops do with bomb threat letters (using more professional software).
Every research needs a control group, in this case the control group would be texts written by people who could not be the doc's author. I selected a few texts from Drew's and Till's blogs:
Drew DeVault - very different style. Again the closest (but still far away) dots are the texts loaded emotionally.
Till's blog:
There is one thing which is the most Hector-y in all of this. During the 3 weeks I was working on this program I read a few papers on stylometry. One of them was about adversarial stylometry, which is science about fooling stylometric analysis with writing in a different style to retain anonymity. The paper "Adversarial Stylometry: Circumventing Authorship Recognition to Preserve Privacy and Anonymity" by M. Brennan et al, shows that with short texts an unskilled author can easily hide his identity should he or she want to do it. They compared the results of a few techniques and concluded:
The obfuscation approach weakens all methods to the point that they are no better
than randomly guessing the correct author of a document.
In another book on stylometry, "Machine Learning Methods for Stylometry - Authorship Attribution and Author Profiling", J. Savoy writes
A skilled writer can hide his own identity for a few hundred words, or
imitate the style of another author, but it becomes more difficult to do so in a longer
sample.
Hector can imitate another style. He does that with Lina's writings. Lina does not write long texts, but even with the longer toots, the style is visibly different. This means that Hector puts more effort every day to pretend his autogynephilic VTuber persona is a totally different person, than he put to convince the Internet someone else wrote that "suicide evidence" document. How can someone be so bad at lying while doing it all day every day? Hector wrote it off the bat like he was writing another post on the hackmii website. And this is probably the most sociopathic thing I found out today.
Hector Martin wrote the byuucide letter, and I have scientific proof of it.
Not surprised. A couple things make me think the same too:
The "anonymous mutual" has never come forward after all this time.
The details of the supposed anonymous person are sparse enough that the only thing attributing the doc to them is a short blurb at the end. It's possible he wrote the thing then decided to avoid responsibility by slapping the attribution blurb on at the end.
...because the details they gave place them somewhere in Japan, likely Tokyo, and we know that Hector Martin lives in Tokyo too.
Hector Martin also mentioned meeting with Byuu in Akihabara too as the anonymous person did.
90% of the document isn't dedicated to Byuu, it's dedicated to whinging about the evil bad kiwis and pushing the manufactured narrative that we "murdered" him. In other words, the exact same line that Hector Martin constantly pushes.
The document also contains key details about our providers (at the time) that, as Null noted, take a bit of technical skill to find. Hector Martin would match as having the skills needed to do so.
The document was uploaded by Hector Martin and no other person has touched it since then, rather than having a history where it was uploaded by another person and then altered by Hector Martin (like the attribution add-on would suggest).
It wasn't known that Hector Martin was (supposedly) friends with Byuu before this shitshow went down. We are supposed to believe that someone, living in Japan, was not only friends with Byuu, but was friends with Hector too, and also knew that the two were friends too.
And then that, for some reason, they would rather have Hector publish the document instead of them. They would rather give Hector entire editorial control over their words and then never give any followups or clarifications, instead relying entirely upon him to do it. This isn't standard procedure to say the least. Not even twitter callout docs with high risk of backlash are published anonymously through someone else.
He was already considering doing exactly that for Hacker News. He said the only thing that stopped him would have been the backlash. Which shows you where his priorities lie. Not in being a trustworthy and moral OS dev, but avoiding criticism.

He’s little more than an emotional, overgrown man-child that somehow through miracle learned enough about computers to put this shitshow of an operating system together, yet not enough to actually make it daily drivable.
And also, he would probably block Kiwifarms before Hacker News because Kiwifarms is more hated in his circle, thus, he would receive less backlash.
Either way, I don’t think many people would be comfortable running the code of a person that literally faked a suicide on their daily usage machines.
So now we can say with 100% certainty that Hector is a fat lying spic pedophile.
If Hector likes setting up kiwifarms.jp that leads to a pro-tranny website in a vain attempt to spite the forum, I think at this point it's only fair for someone to make a website with a url of something like hectormartinisafatpedo.jp with all the evidence proving how much of a sociopathic liar he is.
He's lied about plenty of things before (anything to do with Kiwifarms namely) and the document was already second-hand lies. But now we know it was first-hand lies all along. So now we can say he's more of a fat lying spic pedophile than previously known.
Semper fucking fi @The Real Slim Shady I think I got second hand autism from that shit. I'm not so smort when it comes to statistical analysis but that's some wildly compelling stuff.
For anyone new coming in, the whole Byuuicide google doc situation is explained in this thread's OP. The new evidence today strongly suggests that Hector Martin was lying about the google doc being written by a "mutual friend" of Byuu and Hector.
Instead, it appears that Hoaxin' Hector wrote it himself.
Excerpt from the OP below: Now normally, if somebody actually kills themselves on the Internet for real, you would get confirmation by their family. But that didn't happen in this case.
Instead, Hector Martin published a Google document (archive) claiming to be True & Honest proof that Byuu really killed himself:
You would be forgiven for asking yourself, "who the fuck is Hector and since when was he related to Byuu?" But don't worry, that's the least of the problems with the document. For starters, Hector claims to not even be the primary source himself:
Hector Martin said:
Published on behalf of a mutual friend of Near and I, who wishes to remain anonymous for their own protection. -marcan
So this entire document is second-hand. And if you're wondering if that mysterious "mutual friend" has ever come forward on their own after all this time, the answer is no.
Assuming this "anonymous" "mutual friend" isn't just Hector himself, this friend's story has several glaring issues. For example, 90% of the document is dedicated to whinging about Kiwi Farms and its providers (at the time), while barely covering the actual suicide itself, which supposedly took place over a Telegram call. These two quotes are the entirety of the described suicide:
Unknown person said:
At 11:45 on Sunday, I was on a phone call with Near. They’d just taken a large overdose of codeine and guanfancine. I saw a photo of the noose.
30 minutes into the call, Les Voyages De L'âme by Alcest started playing at the other end. I wouldn’t hear their voice again.
That's it. Nothing about calling the police to stop him from neckroping. Nothing about what they talked about on the call. Nothing about even trying to convince him to not go through with it. Apparently this anonymous friend just sat on a call for an hour while he was hanging himself, and did nothing. Sounds like a great friend.
It's also worth noting that overdosing on codeine and guanfacine won't kill you, but it will make you vomit all over the place and lose energy, enough to cast your ability to successfully hang yourself into question.
The rest of the document is Marcan's modus operandi: Constantly accusing the Kiwi Farms of harassment and abuse, when that's against our rules, and there is literally no evidence for this.
Unknown person said:
Near was eventually targeted by Kiwi Farms. Members of that website make a sport of preying on the less fortunate
But Kiwi Farms is relentless. Not to be defeated in their pursuit of utter emotional and psychological destruction, they went after who Near treasured most: their friends.
To the people of Kiwi Farms, this is a videogame. That the people on the other side of the screen are real makes no difference. They delight in the kill counter going up just like an FPS player would.
They even make reference to the suicide of Chloe Sagal, when his suicide was entirely the fault of the trans community.
Unknown person said:
DreamHost, you are the Kiwi Farms domain registrar. CloudFlare, you protect Kiwi Farms against attacks. You both share responsibility in not just Near’s death, but also others, as well as the pain and harassment of thousands more.
More seriously now. We know that Hector is Lina, which was obvious from the huge pile of evidence well before this thread started. Using the data I already scraped from Hector's and Lina's mastodon accounts I made a different chart that shows the time of each post:
<snip>
@The Real Slim Shady - I'm still a bit sceptical about stylometrics being a thing, but still, I applaud your autism.
Re-reading the Google doc, two things stuck out:
>From the comfort of anonymity, of sitting in front of their computer thousands of kilometers away, they take glee in slowly destroying the psyche of others, bit by bit.
Kilometres rather than miles, and the American spelling of kilometres, suggesting a non-native speaker of English. Hector consistently uses American spelling, despite being Spanish.
>Near is anything but cold and distant in person; those attributes were necessary façades grown in response to lifelong harassment and abuse.
You mean Near was, surely? Right, Hector?

So not only is it a Linux distro that only works on a small amount of devices, it fails at what it's supposed to achieve. That's one way of fucking up your mission.
There really should be a rare user flair or trophy or that's given to those that put in incredibe, interesting, and field relevant yet highly autistic work to bolster their argument in what is basically internet drama. And by rare I mean something that occurs maybe once a year. You could be using this intelligence to receive legitimate recognition in an academic field however here you are putting it into this humble forum full of retards. It warms my heart

Could be done via forum badges. Maybe a “Kiwi Achievement of the Year” award. Honestly, in general, an annually hosted “Kiwis”, where Null passes out forum awards and highlights some of the best posts/memes of the year would be incredibly funny to me.
Fuck, well done. I remember I was working on some ML stuff to pin some other twitter moralfags to suspected 4chan posts a while back and lost interest. It's surprising how many can stare at the self-important bullshit they write all day and not pick up on their stylistic quirks.
