Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

The only downside is if the place you won't walk away for a good minute has stuff that can cause interference, there's your problem.
Do you mean in that it will be hard for you to hear any dangers, or that you can't cancel the sound out?

Plain interference that messes up your phone's connection with your bluetooth earphones. It sucks if it's happening in a place you'll be staying for a quite a while like a gym or worse, your house. Hearing any dangers, in my experience it's the same depending on your earphones. The only thing that matters is if it's a pair of earbuds that go in to your ear nicely which both wired and wireless earphones can do.

One thing I find better with bluetooth earphones, is unlike with headphone jacks I wasn't changing new earphones often because there's no wiring that can break and there's less clutter on your person.

I prefer wired headphones because they sound better, and you can get ones with removable cables so if the cable breaks you can just buy a replacement one. Plus with the Bluetooth ones, they’re powered by internal batteries that weren’t designed to be replaced in a lot of them, so when the battery stops holding a charge and/or becomes a spicy pillow they’re just e-waste and that rubs me up the wrong way.

That's another downside too. If you are good with handling your headphones' wires and especially if you tend to listen to music for more than an hour or so then wired headphones will give you a lot more bang for your buck. But if you suck at handling wires, then bluetooth headphones may be better for you. Just expect the battery and the occasional possible interference to be a downside.

So yeah, in the end the trend of cellphone companies removing support for wired headphones is a clown world move because the two still have their own uses depending on the person. I don't really see what's the purpose of removing the ports too; it's not like these companies add something else in return, not that I know of. I'm just hoping they don't do it to chargers and stupidly endorse wireless charging.

Back in the day there were vast improvements in hardware constantly but now it's leveled off to a point where average phone/PC specs are more than enough for most people's needs, but the tech industry has remained in the mindset that people need to replace everything. So instead of making devices actually better they've started making them more disposable to force that same rate of replacement even though it's not necessary and the phones aren't much of a real improvement over last year's model.

Plus Apple is great at marketing and social manipulation so morons buy into their shitty product changes for the clout. You just know there are retards out there who will literally judge people for having phones with a headphone jack ffs.
Trust me, I get it. It's what happened with home appliances. They want you to buy a new toaster, so they design failure points, as well as take features away. If you want a headphone jack on a average phone, you have to plug a dongle into the charge port, which means you can't charge with a separate battery pack and listen at the same time. Fucking mental.
Also I actually prefer Bluetooth headphones for a couple of reasons... one being that the wire tends to be the first thing that fails. My pair has a jack so I can use them as wired headphones if I want, but if the aux cord gets a short I can just replace the cord and not the whole pair. My Bluetooth headphones have lasted me much longer than any wired pair I've ever had for this reason alone. On top of that, I often want to listen to music while doing chores or hobby stuff and I like not being literally tethered to my phone or laptop while I do things that don't involve either of them or having the cord catch on things.
Personally enjoy corded myself. I've tried Bluetooth, and then they died. Expensive too, git them for Christmas. I'd rather have a cheap corded pair with a analog jack, where while it might burn out, it's easy to replace and the sound quality is superior. That and there's no issues syncing up. Only thing I miss is being able to move to different rooms.

Apple wants you to buy their overpriced peripherals. There's not much else to it.

Cheap bluetooth earbuds are pretty shitty. I have a pair but when i work i prefer to use a pair of wired ones i have from House of Marley, they are comfortable and sound really good. They were cheap too, i recommend that brand.

There really is no upside to not allow you to choose for yourself, its a very anti-consumer move

Cheap brands are severely hit or miss. I've had a few good brands that lasted longer than even some expensive ones. My one main problem with wireless and earbuds in general is they run into issues when I go for a run on a hot day. For one, they obviously wear out quicker if it's hot out and for two they start getting slippery when you've worked up too much of a sweat. Unlike wired, it's easy to lose one if it falls out.
I don't think the disposability is necessarily the ultimate goal. I think it's a side effect of most electronics being manufactured in China because it's cheaper both in terms of labor costs and tax loopholes. Stuff built domestically is typically built to a much higher quality standard and will last much longer. That's the reason so much vintage hardware still works as well as the day it left the shelf.

I don't like ear buds, they hurt my ears and they never sit quite right. Around ears are my go to and I don't like wireless because of this.
I prefer normal headphones unless I'm out of the house. Less likely to get mugged over wired earbuds. Not in an area where it's likely to happen, just cautious.

And what's the deal with audiophiles anyway?!
Some people like to listen to music as close to how it was intended to be heard instead of through shitty laptops, bluetooth speakers or $10 Chinese headphones. But I’ll grant you, once you hit a certain quality threshold the difference is non-existent and you’re paying for clout. Ideally you’d have production monitors with a flat frequency response so nothing in the EQ is artificially boosting the sound.

I've had much better luck with headphones. I have ones paired with my pc i pretty much wear all day around the house and i am pretty happy with them but the bt earbuds always came with quirks, the ones i have now have lasted a lot but sometimes make these tiny wiring sound when music is off and it drives me mad.

Yeah, if they have a rapper doing branding or as labeled as GaMeR they are probably cheap crap with a big markup. They will most likely have exagerated bass and trembles for the little nigglets and make everything sound shitty too.

Headphones I've always considered more of a PC/console thing, where it actually has a alright sound chip worth hooking into. Otherwise it just feels like I'm carrying all this bulk around for less

I have a hillarious thing where mine get interference each time I move my head a specific way, no matter how close the phone is.

But those also glitch over WIFI waves' presence, so it could be anything.

Also, what kind of over the ear bluetooth headphones that are simple and cozy is the best?

You thought the consoomer thread was the best place to ask lol?

I have a personal vendetta against subscription-based water bottle flavorer cartridges. Only can be used in their special water bottle. Is "mailed straight to your door!!!!" really still a selling point in the age of grocery delivery and amazon? My family buys them because "they will help you lose weight." The water in the bottle stays clear, it's flavored by going through the proprietary flavor cartridge. They think this is healthier than other ways to flavor water because they still see just normal water rather than seeing, like, how crystal light and other 0 cal things typically have a bit of food dye. I don't know. All I know is a subscription service water bottle drives me insane.

Literally all you have to do to get the same effect is get a 2 dollar bottle of Mio or some equivalent and do 1 to 2 squirts in a bottle of water. A single bottle of that stuff should last you at least a month unless you are flat out incapable of drinking water without some sweetener. Artificial or not, desensitizing yourself to sweetness like that is a terrible idea.

My personal vendetta is against Keurigs. They clog up landfills with unrecylable used pods all so the terminally lazy can save 5 minutes of work and pay significantly more for significantly lower quality coffee than if they just had a simple $20 drip coffee maker with a reusable metal filter. I'm sick of those repulsive pod coffee makers replacing proper coffee machines in company break rooms when the sheer volume of people consuming coffee in your typical office makes it 100% rational to brew a whole pot of coffee. There is absolutely no justification to have one of those things in an office.

Bluetooth headphones don't work on the street in midtown Manhattan because of all the signal interference. It's actually surreal

Sadly, I never had experiences with over the ear bluetooth headphones so I have no recommendations. On earbuds though as a general tip, if you can, avoid those ones with buttonless tap controls because they are crap.

Also, wifi and bluetooth interference is interestingly fucky. Sometimes, it's the other way around; I had someone bring over bluetooth headphones and the 2.4 ghz wifi we have gets disrupted because they probably have the same frequency, so any devices connected to gets thrown off the network.

My god, it's like juicero all over again! I never thought something with the same business model as that shitty-ass juicer would take off or happen again in some form. Is it becoming big? I hope it doesn't and suffers the same fate as juicero.

I can go one better. I sharehoused with a hoarder for a while. Her kitchen was so packed with junk that she wanted me to store my food in my bedroom. One of the many things crowding the kitchen bench was something similar to this:

Only it was more 'artistic' and took up a lot more room. When I checked the pods sitting in it, they were two years past their useby date. I questioned my housemate and she confessed that she didn't even know if she still had the fucking coffee machine. Yeah, living there was an interesting experience.
