"Assumpsit that Dick and Vito are somehow pushing this lawsuit. I'll wait for evidence."
- Nick Rekieta, Esq.
He really needs to stop trying to sound like a lawyer. It's embarrassing. No one walks around talking about
assumpsit. Ever. And if they do, they use it correctly: assumpsit is a written or oral promise to do something, and is the term for a lawsuit for damages owing to someone's failure to perform a simple (express or implied) contract
(there are other details no one needs to know or care about, but links are to various explanations, definitions, and very old law review articles* if you're interested)). The"assume" in "assumpsit" is about taking on an obligation (like when you assume an obligation or debt), not the more everyday meaning of "to believe something without knowing for sure," which appears to be how he's trying to use it.

it came about in the 16th c. or so, early origins of contract law, fairly archaic term but still in use for certain actions in some U.S. jurisdictions
Between stuff like that, and constantly dropping in awkward phrasing like "the current evidence doesn't support that conclusion" when he is just saying he thinks his two dumb friends didn't do what they probably did, "but hey, I could be wrong," he constantly brings to mind some dumb baby giraffe that can't walk yet and is completely awkward and flopping all over the place, only not cute like that. Nick, you've been "practicing" (lol) for 8 years now, and yet still sound like the diploma ink is still wet, because you're constantly trying to sound like a lawyer.
People know you have a law degree; don't worry. But with privilege comes responsibility. And especially if you make being a lawyer on the internet your literal career, you should feel some obligation to learn your craft instead of waving a credential around like you wave your balldo. You sound like a buffoon.
