Anything featuring slots. Roulette is bad on it's own but slot machines are designed to only pay out a certain amount. It's easily where he has to be blowing the most amount of money.

The worst part about Stake's slots, since they are 100% computer generated they just have more possible stops compared to mechanical slots. Also Stake isn't regulated like at all so unlike the Slots in Vegas they don't have a government mandated payout rate.

As far as I know the gambler brain actually reacts largely identically to winning as they do losing. The thing they're addicted to is the act of putting their money in the machine and watching the reels or the wheel spin. It's why he's moaning "please help me" while begging for money because he is craving another spin of the wheel.

Mechanical slots have not existed in modern casinos for a long time. With computerized slots the payouts can be much bigger due to a larger possible number of options, as the mechanical machines were physically limited with how many things like bars, cherries, etc. they could display. Computerized slots can also be effectively truly random while old mechanical slots in some cases were kinda not really random and could be beaten by extremely smart and skilled individuals who paid very, very close attention. Also, modern video slots have more interactive elements and more attention-getting capability which helps with dopamine. Even if a machine today appears mechanical, like it has a lever and such, it's still got a microchip setting the odds.

It's a shame, I like old mechanical slot machines and I find their inner workings very fascinating, even though I hate gambling, have never and will never gamble in my life. Modern video machines just don't have any soul. But gambling addicts aren't looking for soul so it's fine for them.
