i think it's definitely a class issue, but there's the added layer that guns are seen generally as a guy thing. that doesn't mean no women are into guns, but there's an extra hurdle for them to get into "man stuff" than just coasting and being into things that are directly marketed towards themI believe its a class issue in general on guns.
Some woman out in rural Wyoming would love guns more than an a man in urban Oklahoma.
rural areas have less of this because there's more of a sense of "whatever i need to do to get the job done", but when i was getting into guns and looking at beginner resources i saw quite a few stories about conservative family men who wanted their wives/daughters to learn how to protect themselves and they just weren't interested
now combine that with the complete lack of tool knowledge in general an average urban bughiver has and activist groups that feed a constant stream of lies directly targeted at women and it seems to be an uphill battle in most places
