Fatrick sued 60 John Does. John Doe 1 lawyered up to quash the subpoenas to Google and Cloudflare over any identifying information of all the John Does. It was ruled, since Doe 1 had legal representation, he did not have to reveal himself. The court essentially ruled that Fatrick had to compensate Doe 1 his legal fees to the tune of just under $24k on the grounds that the lawsuit was frivolous and malicious. Over two years interest has accumulated which is why it ended up almost $33k.
Patrick S. Tomlinson quite literally had to pay the legal fees of a man Tomlinson was unable to identify.
