I believe ephebophilia (age 15-1You really don't want to start going down the rabbit hole of the "technical" definition of a pedophile and what prepubescent means because I promise you the stench will get on you and start sticking to you if you continue to engage in this kind of rhetoric. Anyone who wants to bang a 13/14 year old is a pedophile and needs to be handled accordingly. Trying to distinguish between MAP and Pedophile, and even to an extent using their softening term of "MAP", is also ill advised. That's just my take though.
Being attracted to pre-pubescent children is something utterly abhorrent and the term for it is pedophilia.Oh, this shit again. Kill yourself, pedo.
Finding post-pubescent minors physically attractive is something normal.
Pursuing post-pubescent minors is wrong, because while many have the sexual characteristics of adults, their brains are not fully developed, and consequently they are very easily manipulated and prone to making very bad decisions (it also begs the question why someone is targeting a person who is quite literally mentally disabled). This makes adults who specifically pursue them sexual predators.
Real pedophiles are rare compared to people who just can't tell at a glace whether someone is 16 or 18, or even 20, and if enough folks start to call both groups "pedophiles", people will start to be indifferent when someone is labelled that, because they assume it's just peal clutching nonsense, because statistically it usually will be (which I think is the point of folding """"ephebophiles"""" into the label "MAP"). This allows actual pedophiles to escape scrutiny. It also opens the door for a whole sector of predators to wave away criticism with "but they look like adults." You're not going to persuade people around them that these people are despicable by just screeching insults.
tl;dr: I think you should call them what they are instead of whatever word has the strongest negative connotation, whether it is applicable or not, because misusing a term will erode the negative connotation of that term. I believe Geared Chris wasn't misguided in trying to clarify.
