The Sims 4

I've heard The Sims 2 is less broken and i've been considering downgrading to that just to have a Sims game to play again, but it's been giving me issues if I do it digitally (mainly because it needs a working CD-ROM code that I don't have)
Just get one of the Games4theworld versions, the mrdj version everyone's distributing on archive and other sim sites lacks the IKEA pack and you would have to get it separately. Meanwhile G4TW has everything and includes some extras and pretty detailed info on how to run shit.

The latest TS4 delivery includes a new bathroom door, some facilities signs, and the backpack from High School Years is now a base game item:

The bad thing is that Sims can't actually carry the backpacks on their backs, they just put them in their inventories... They can carry babies as if they were backpacks, but they can't carry backpacks.
You know in which game they were able to do that? The Sims 3.

It’s always interesting how EA goes out of its way to use only the ugliest sims for their art and screenshots now
Looking through some of the Kit artwork especially is tantamount to torture and probably some of the worst examples of Corporate Memphis shit (in regards to pushing diversity as opposed to just outright artistic incompetence) I’ve ever seen

Today's Behind The Sims video revealed that Stuff Packs will be a thing for TS4 again, there will be another Expansion Pack (which would make 3 EPs this year), and Project Rene is officially confirmed to be Free-to-Play, and apparently will not be a replacement for TS4, as TS4 will still get updates.

The other thing about the video, is that long-time Sims team member Lyndsay Pearson, looks like she has gained significant weight over the years:

And this is even moreso, since the helicopter in TS2's Apartment Life Expansion was named after her, I think.

god damn that fucking game will never die
I love how this basically confirms Rene is probably another shot at that stupid MMO thing they were trying for before the SimCity disaster made them shit out 4 instead
because if it's not a replacement for 4, why would people complain if it's always-online? and why would EA ever miss a chance at screwing over their consumerbase?

I think the F2P thing was inevitable, at least after that microtransaction statement, because otherwise they'd have no excuse for how thoroughly they're going to wring that shit out for cash (which would be a problem since it'd be a new project and not an established new entry into the franchise that fans could riot over) , but it still sucks to hear. I hate, hate, haaate how AAA gaming has gone the same way as mobile gaming, even if i'm not surprised. Any excuse to make quality an impossibility in favor of profit, I suppose.

this part is just like
yeah
kind of expected that, but it still sucks dick
again, any excuse to wring the Sims out for as much cash as it's worth will be taken
if the fact that the Sims 4 costing over 1000 dollars to formally play is pretty much a meme by this point wouldn't stop these practices, nothing will

EA: Remember when we tried to make Sims 4 online at first and it resulted in us releasing an unfinished, broken launch title? Let’s try it again.

To be fair, though, I can’t entirely blame EA when they pull the same shit over and over and normies still buy every single “kit” that comes out that has like one ball of yarn in it for $15 and should be base game anyways, and say shit like “I prefer a closed world Sims game because I’m playing on a 2007 Chromebook”.

it unnerves me that gaming has shifted enough within the past 10 years that an always-online, free-to-play, microtransaction-stuffed Sims title coming out not only probably wouldn't deter anybody from buying it, but would actually be a selling point

That sounds like a game similar to Fortnite to me. But instead of killing others with guns you drown them by removing the pool ladder.

Don’t forget to access the game via the proprietary Origin EA launcher, which never has issues and always runs smoothly.

At least we have 1, 2 and 3

I still really want to try, and if I ever find it in a store I'll snap it up like nobody's business, but I fear I'll be missing a lot of the Sims 3's improvements (namely in regards to Traits, Life Stages, Action Queue, Customization (especially color picking) and such).
There is no physical Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, it was a limited time digital release on Origin. You shouldn’t bother finding the physical discs for the game as they all have SecuROM DRM on them and will therefore give your PC cyberAIDS, plus you’d have to install like 14 different discs individually in the right order.

The best way to play Sims 2 these days is with the All-in-One installer by MartinBLCK, which was originally uploaded to The Pirate Bay in 2011 but was then re uploaded on MEGA. You won’t need a no-cd crack as it’s already built in.

After you’ve installed the game and applied the 4GB patch/Graphics Rules ini changes, if the shadows under your sims still look like opaque black rectangles, the patch to fix that is here:

I'd say that the Games4TheWorld torrent is a better choice. I've gotten the entire trilogy with them with all the extra content and it's been a flawless experience.

Earlier in this thread I've linked a different website that isn't the OG one, probably because the OG one was down, so I apologize for that. The proper domain is the one below:

They also have an archive of some official paid content for Sims 2 that's also worth getting: https://games4theworld.org/downloads/sims-2-store-items/

And yes, they also have all Sims 3 Store content if you want a complete package of that.

If you're a boomer and want the official content for Sims 1 from the old site you can find it here: https://archive.org/details/sims1officialdownloads

I have also found this archive of probably all Sims 1 custom content. It's 20GB, so if you're willing to archive it for future generations or just to get some CC for Sims 1 here's the link: https://archive.org/details/sims-1-cc

Yeah but if you’re a brainlet that can’t figure out how to torrent anything or mount an iso the AIO download is great because it’s literally just a zip file with the installer + instructions in it. That’s why the sims 2 modders on Tumblr recommend it all the time so they don’t have to deal with people going “what is torrent???? will it run on my Chromebook????”
