Interesting, but I wonder if (without resorting to piracy) there will be a way for people who own the game and dlcs on Steam to be able to use the dlcs epic is giving away, I know if you own the game on Steam and have dlcs on Origin that those DLCs on Origin do get downloaded even when launched from Steam.
EA counts on people buying the DLC's, sure they get pissy when people pirate but if there is one thing they can count on is simmer women buying all the expansions or making their S.O's buy, i knew a guy that was pressed into buying a few content kits from his gf until i told him about *that patch*

More and more information about Project Rene is coming out, and it's a lot of bad.

The game will apparently be Free-to-play, so expect the same microtransaction-fests that plagued the series, i.e. the TS3 Store, and the micro-transactions in Sims FreePlay and Sims Mobile.

There was apparently a job listing that gave the F2P confirmation away, but EA quickly removed it:

And apparently, EA will still make Kits for TS4, going into even next year.

And another Behind The Sims episode is out, and apparently they used the "clone" cop-out, in regards to Nighat Caliente being replaced with Katrina in TS4.

The said subtitles pretty much sums up what The Sims will be like, from now on.

as long as it gets EA money... they really don't care about what you do with whatever you are managing.
but if you give them losses your head gets on the guillotine as fast as it can, remember BF5? it took one month for them to axe the faggot, ONE MONTH (this is incredibly fast for projected sales and PR shit as EA knows that PR is always good).

The Gameplay Trailer for the new EP is out, and looks to be no better:

Well the horses look cute, but much like the bikes, they are a bit pointless if you use them to move around, since the map isn't open-world.
I don't like the dessert-themed world, there are already three in the game: Oasis Springs, Del Sol Valley and Strangerville.

Old but someone at Maxis not only thought that this was good

but that it was better than this

I think they're uglfying the women so you can't tell them apart from the troons.

Edit: Also this fuck from the Horse DLC pops up everywhere

I really don't know the reason behind EA's decision to change the Goth's and the Caliente's appearances. I mean, if they wanted to make them look more like their estimated age, that's fine, but they just made them more unattractive.
Good thing you can always change them at CAS. I did that with almost all the sims that already come in the game and the packs.

That thing is also a gender-special too:

So... an unemployed 'non binary' lesbian living on a horse farm thats a foodie snob and makes nectar. Sure sounds like a wannabe troon. No fucking way this isn't some kind of self insert by a troon developer. Thats a step toward an in-game tranch situation. Maxis did love their alpacas back in the day after all....

The August patch for The Sims 4 was released last week, with fixes to the Horse EP that should have been in the game on launch, and not fixed afterwards.

Ilan Eshkeri's behind the scenes video of the creation of TS4's music was interesting to see, given the emphasis on "emotion".

And while the video made me appreciate TS4's music a bit more, Steve Jablonsky (and Christopher Lennertz with the Pets EP) still did a better job with The Sims 3's music, as it gave off a chill and carefree vibe, which Sims music should be about.

is the Steam version of The Sims 3 notoriously broken or otherwise unstable? I bought it years ago before I knew what I was doing and had a fun time with it earlier this year when I started actually playing it for once but it broke irreparably some time in mid-April and I haven't been able to start it since

It seems to be a simple 00175xcb error, but all of the usual fixes haven't worked and for some reason it only cropped up after I tried to uninstall two DLC packs that I'd already had installed before. Have spent the last 4 months trying every fix I can find and at this point the only one that might have any kind of shot is completely reinstalling my OS, which I am not willing to do in the slightest for many many reasons. My last resort is playing the game on a Virtual Machine, though I'd really rather not since that'd require setting up all my basic mods (mostly just bug fixes or lighting adjustments) and pirating the mountain of in-game Store content AGAIN which would probably take hours because whoever packaged that shit is retarded and didn't do anything besides dump the hundreds of paid-for packs into a zip and call it a day

I've heard The Sims 2 is less broken and i've been considering downgrading to that just to have a Sims game to play again, but it's been giving me issues if I do it digitally (mainly because it needs a working CD-ROM code that I don't have) and I haven't got the time to go find the Ultimate Pack physically. I still really want to try, and if I ever find it in a store I'll snap it up like nobody's business, but I fear I'll be missing a lot of the Sims 3's improvements (namely in regards to Traits, Life Stages, Action Queue, Customization (especially color picking) and such).

The only other option I have is the Sims 4, which is dogshit awful and I really don't want to play it because it'd require reinstalling Origin and paying 1000+ bucks for DLC (which I can't do, and I would really rather not play an unfinished game). I've been considering just pirating the game separate from the launcher (+ its DLC) and loading it up with every mod I can find that makes it more like the Sims 3, but from what I can tell there's 0 way to get as in-depth in the Sims 4 with mods as you can with the base Sims 2 or Sims 3 games, and with every mod I add the game will probably get less and less stable...

I dunno. I'd just wait for Project Rene but I know it'll be manipulative dogshit that I'll hate with a burning passion because it's EA and they haven't been tolerable since before my niece was born so I'd rather not.

Alternatively: are there any upcoming Life Sim games that I can actually be excited for? Life By You is made by Paradox (EA but if it was even lazier) whom I refuse to support, meanwhile Paralives looks like faggy shit appealing to the Sims 4 crowd that were mad about there being no top surgery scars in the Sims 4 until a few months ago. I know of nothing else and I'm more than a little pessimistic considering the fanbase, but if anyone here has found something comparable to the Sims 2/3 that isn't more concerned with fluid gender than it is with enjoyable content then I'll be more than happy to give it a look.
