Tbh, I think a lot of the "freethinking" atheists who became SJW's and Woke Leftists kinda got blindsided by the rise of Woke because for so long, the main group of vocal moral guardians in the United States were Protestant conservatives like Jack Thompson, Jerry Falwell, Jack Chick, Pat Robertson, John Todd, Jesse Helms, and the like.

A large chunk of the GOP actively pandered to these kinds of people and while you did have Democrats like Joe Lieberman, Tipper Gore, and Hillary Clinton who'd crusade against anything they deemed to be "immoral", the majority of these were from the more center-right "Blue Dog" wing of the Democratic Party.

These were the killjoy moralizers that drove a lot of young people to just rebel and go full euphoric. It didn't help that you had guys like Kent Hovind who didn't read the Bible that much and could lose a debate to the average Redditor asshat.

And during the Bush years, they got an unexpected ironclad status for a few years after 9/11. Everyone forgets than even Hollywood booed Michael Moore for opposing the War On Terror at one point and while Michael Moore is a braying jackass, he was right about the Global War On Terror and the Patriot Act being a bad idea.

So a lot of Generation X'ers and Millennials honestly believed that only right-wingers could be the fun-hating moral guardians and that anything left-leaning was automatically good and enlightened.

This whole Woke Leftism thing really began to take off after the '08 Great Recession as a way to defang the Left and make them into unwitting pawns for our corporate overlords.

Some of these liberal atheists were quick to glob onto it and we got Atheism+, while the other skeptics thought it was just a lefty reskin of the same Evangelical moralizing they opposed during the 90's and 2000's.

The Skeptics all panicked and largely went BreadTuber after 2016 because of Orange Man Bad, but also IMHO, because Trump had picked Mike Pence as his running mate to increase Evangelical voter turnout after Cruz lost. That spooked a lot of people in liberal and secular circles.

There was a lot of fears in certain circles that Pence would be the real "power behind the throne" within the Trump Administration as opposed to the Uniparty snake in the grass he actually was, and so a lot of those formerly anti-SJW Skeptics suddenly went full Woke.

That example is dumb, as that's not how white writers write native/ethnic characters. That's how bad white writers write. Or bad writers in general. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of novels out there written by white writers who have managed to capture the essence of another race perfectly, as that's what being a good writer is; being able to convey and portray a character to the reader without using stereotypes or cliches.
Now, its the reverse I question. Not a whole lotta ethnic writers writing outside of their own race/experiences.

I think that SJW BS stems from the BS idea that someone of one "community" "identity" can never truly understand the "community" "identity" of another, no matter how much they learn. Now it looks like that BS only applies if one is of an "oppressor" group.

Also here's a rather controversial view in Clown World: stereotypes and cliches are not always bad, even though having any misconceptions about the "holy marginalized groups" seems to be a grave sin extremely "problematic" in The Cult of Progress.

I was one of those idiot early Millennials who jumped on that bandwagon. I look back on those days with regret. Years of witnessing, and experiencing, accumulated left-liberal hypocrisy destroyed all faith I had in that ideology.

I glad to see we do have a mutual hatred of it, I'm just not quite following your logic that agrarianism is a key component to it - as if invading poland was a key component to Nazism therefore there could be no american neo-nazis because they can't invade poland.

The revolutionary model relied on mass invasion by less educated agrarian populations living in many cases in near medievalism. Since there were way more of those people in China, they could bring overwhelming force on the much smaller cities.

And by not focusing on overducated urban dwellers, they could get rid of those pesky intellectuals right at the outset. Cambodia took this to an even greater extreme.

That population in the U.S. is not as numerous in comparison to city dwellers, is more educated than Chinese peasants, yet is almost overwhelmingly completely hostile to Communism. You have some Progressive thought in those settings, but it's more the Teddy Roosevelt kind. They may want better working conditions for better pay, but they also want private property, guns and freedom.

I don't know if they're radically outnumbered, but movie-world Kens are definitely an oppressed caste, being little more than arm candy who are allowed to do nothing but lounge on the beach and serve as a romantic interest for their Barbies. I honestly thought of Charles Stross when I read that stuff. Who, the last book of his I read, tried to sell a psychic who liked to use their abilities to ignore consent as the good guy. It's impressive writing that makes me root for the elder god who's staging daily executions to build their throne of skulls but he managed it.
